This set has really jumped the shark over the past 20 years.

Plates & Patches started out as a subset. Where you could pull a namePlate or Patch swatch.

That morphed, a few years later, to the "Plates" being printing plates. And now, the printing plates are replaced with metal-stock insert cards.

Exactly. It just feels like this is one of those "filler" releases that serves no real purpose at this point.

Wasn't this a non-standalone insert in Chronicles the last few years? I don't think Panini is sure what to do with it.

I'm still waiting for a sticker dump release. Literally "Panini Sticker Dump" where they just flush out their old stickers.

I liked this product for the on card autograph content in previous years - like Leaps and Bounds, Echelon, etc... I notice that Panini is putting more and more signed metal cards. Not a big fan of those.

Looks like they're replacing Elements with a reboot of Plates & Patches
