View Full Version : What happens if I remove the authentication seal?

Apologies if this is already covered somewhere, but I couldn't find anything searching.
I got a card in today for my PC which was authenticated, and I have zero issues with the card. They sent it to me with two penny sleeves, a card saver, then the eBay team bag with the authentication sticker on top.
Is there any real reason to keep it sealed? I know some people like to resell their cards and keep it in the eBay authentication package (even though eBay would re-authenticate anyway if its over the threshold), but I'd love to get this into a one touch instead. I plan on keeping it for a long while.

As mentioned it has to go back through the process if selling on ebay, so it's kind of pointless in that case to have it in it if planning on selling on ebay again. I suppose someone could try to sell one offline at a card show or on here, with the card still sealed in the authenticity sleeve, as if that provides extra assurance to authenticity, but Im not sure exactly how tamper-proof that has been deemed at this point. After all it's a sealed team bag with a sticker. Who knows....
Ebay authenticity's primary aim is to facilitate transactions. As in the process of card going from seller to buyer, and provide buyer assurance. I dont think it is meant to be a long-term thing with cards being stored that way...that's more along the lines of having a card sent in to be graded and slabbed.
That being said, do what you want with it...your card! Personally I wouldnt want a card in my PC to be kept in the Ebay authenticity sleeve since it would be incongruous.

Thanks! I think this makes the most sense to me. The transaction is done, I have no qualms about the authenticity, and I don't think anyone would question it given the card (a patch auto) if I were to sell anyway.

Was just thinking about this exact same thing as I had a card arrive from ebay authentication and I plan on sending it out to be graded, so I have to remove it anyway
