After USPS cancelled some of their Priority Mail services I was left with hundreds of boxes (such as Regional A & B). I have been using them and just blacking out/taping over the bar codes and wording. I was just informed USPS is now requiring clerks to scan the bar code of all boxes and I can no longer tape over them or else they will deny the package. The clerk told me to throw the old boxes out. Anyone else hear of this?

The cancellation announcement says that they are to be used as regular priority boxes. Have never seen a clerk scan the barcodes on them. https://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2022/pb22613/html/info_006.htm#:~:text=Effective%20January%2022%2C%202023%20(and,will%20no%20longer%20be%20applicable.

That is what I had always believed as well. I stood right there as she scanned them in. It was asking her every package if it was USPS packaging and if she selected yes, she had to scan the bar code on the box.
I've been doing this for awhile now without issue until now.

She told me it was something they just started rolling out. I'll find out when I go today. I'll also show them the link you posted, I knew I had read it somewhere. Unless there is a newer update to the policy it should still be applicable.
