The heart and the brain are two parts of the body you don't want to risk damaging.
Doctors know more than us... I hope he doesn't have any further issues and can play the sport he loves.

Probably has WPW and will get an ablation. If that’s it, was one of the best case scenarios for him.

Could be. Could be a ASD; or a bunch of other things. Maybe small / narrow vessels ; anatomical issues ? Usually I’ve seen WPW patients have more fainting / syncope than anything.

An ASD isn’t very likely to lead to a cardiac arrest. And almost certainly would have been picked up in childhood. This isn’t a kid with no access to medical care. Anomalous left coronary artery also possible, but should have been symptomatic and caught much sooner. WPW is usually pretty benign, but can lead to fatal arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. And the treatment is simple and permanent, which means he can resume playing ball.
