Card gets relisted for a 5th time.
The winner is always a private ebay account.
Feels like the Trae young shilling scandal all over again.
I message the seller every time it gets relisted but he always seems busy or on vacation and doesn't care.
At what point is it the seller's fault?
Kinda want to report the seller/card here in the forum but that will get exposure and I don't want to lose it for the 6th time.
It's getting ridiculous.

Stop worrying about it. Its obvious the seller is ignoring your messages or simply does not care. So why continue to waste your time? At what point do you realize that the seller does not care? I would not want to deal with that seller at this point.
How do you know the winner is always a private Ebay account? Ebay hides the IDs of bidders on all auctions. Unless you are saying the listing is private then that is a shilling red flag. But you can report it all day and all night and its doubtful Ebay will do anything.

Seller do consignments (not probstein btw :D).
I can see the feedback number on every bidder/winner except for the winner of that particular card. Every time it gets relisted, the winner says something like this: 9***_ (private)

Probably is the same bidder if that's the case, last prive id i saw i could see the feedback number but when you clicked to look at it it showed private. I very rarely bid on auctions so rarely even look at them. . But very little you can do other than report the seller but ebay will likely do very little.
Again at this point its time to walk away.

Before OP mentioned it was consignment…..my guess was 98% chance this was a consignment listing. An lo and behold….it is! eBay has a MAJOR problem with consignment shilling and hidden reserves, and anyone looking to bid on a consignment auction best tread very carefully….do your research like OP is here. I will stay away from any auction that I have the slightest suspicion is being shilled. What I have learned through my experience so far is: the consignment sellers don’t care, eBay doesn’t care, and it just goes on and on since no one does anything. It is jeopardizing the integrity of auctions on ebay, especially since a larger and larger percentage of listings are consignment listings these days (many more consignment sellers now than just the main COMC, Probstein, etc).
Consignment auctions are a major conflict of interest by their very nature. Someone can say ‘shilling can happen whether consignment or not’, but guess what: nearly every time shilling issues come up on this board, it’s involving consignment. Funny how that is.
Who knows what else is going with consignment (do they even report sales like eBay does for individuals for taxes once it goes over threshold?). Just why is it that the hobby is experiencing this massive uptick in sellers who won’t sell their own cards these days (back in like 2010, didn’t people just sell their own cards?). Makes you wonder....and something tells me it's not just because of 'ease of selling'. But with all the rampant shilling….consignment seems to be a central source of shadiness in the card hobby, look no further than back to PWCC on eBay.
The consignment seller in the OP case should have stopped relisting this item after the first time it was won and not paid for, and especially after the second time it was won by that same buyer. 5 relistings we are in la la land. I personally think eBay should totally do away with consignment listings- get rid of them. They won’t, because they are no doubt cash cows for eBay- but if they really cared about rampant fraud/shill bidding, they would make some major changes to consignment selling, shill bidding ramifications, or even doing away with major consignment listings completely.

Several years ago. I find a set which I need one card out of. On the seventh time it was listed (by the same seller) I got it for the min bid. The other 6 times I got out bided by one bid. I thought that was weird, but the seller may have had 7 or more sets of them who knows. I was only willing to pay X amount for it. One or more buyers were willing to paid more or shilling.

I got my card at the price I was willing to pay so no big deal to me. People just should not take thing personally. I understand it is hard at times.

Not sure what you are getting at here....but I do have a big issue when someone is basically trying to fraud me out of money by bidding up their own item. Yes you are willing to pay that amount....but if it would have gone for much less w/o the fake bids....then that is costing you a lot of money because someone is shadily messing with auctions. That's an issue.

Exactly. It is fraudulently inflating item and card prices. Thats money out of buyers pockets.
