I have friends in Europe and Asia. Every country has its pros and cons but you cannot deny the fact that most people want to go to US for higher studies and jobs due to the quality of education (top colleges, business schools), abundant job opportunities and multi-cultural environment. US ranks #5 in the best countries overall and #23 in the quality of life. If you look at the top 25 companies in the world in terms of market cap, majority of them are in US.

US is one of the best places to live in the world if you're well off and not great if you're poor. I'd rather be poor in Norway than poor in the US, but I'd rather be rich in the US than rich in Norway.
