Salesmen lie that's a fact of life. If you are not an actual buyer just move on. You obviously are leaving out alot of info
If you are the buyer it depends on the situation as to what is next.

I've had sellers lie plenty in messages. Usually not about the item itself, more about when they shipped, or why they had to cancel (had a seller who got out of an auction and canceled, claiming they sold the card in their physical store....only to see the card pop up again in their ebay store after that, for a much higher price. Blatant lies like that).
Need more context here since there is none. Item details given in messages should count towards INAD if they are wrong, and ebay is able to see these. Not that a buyer even really needs to convince anyone for INAD returns, they're typically just granted.
If you didnt buy it yet and seller told you something that's not true about the card, I mean you could just respond and say that's false.

Referring to lying concerning facts about a card.
I am curious if a seller had the incorrect year in title of listing whether the card would be rejected by the eBay authenticity program.

Could just be a seller error not really a lie. Nobody can say for sure what the ag will do. If it don't then you will be covered by ebay

It possibly could affect Ebay Authenticity if it is one of those listings. That's up the in the air, I've seen minor details like year or artist name wrong in item specifics and the cards did go through. A year wrong in the title though- hard to say, it could very well be rejected. This is why it definitely makes sense to message the seller and tell them it's wrong because it might cause problems with authentication.
Edit: if it's just them saying it's the wrong year buried in a message, but the listing itself is fine...doubtful ebay authenticity catches that. You say here it's in item title but in OP it was in a message....that might matter where it's said for AG purposes

People who do trade up challenges at card shows are worse than people who lie about trading cards.

Both title and message.

Then point it out to him or move on. That is all you can do. It's up to him to decide if he wants to fix it. Cannot tell you how many cards there are on ebay with wrong year

Exactly.
Not sure what answer anyone can give with little context, and very vague question that may or not be about a seller lying or just being incorrect.
But, any card that is described incorrectly (wrong year, wrong set, wrong player, wrong condition, etc.) typically does NOT pass the Authenticity program. They cross check that the card matches the title and item specifics.

Yes, a few I run across have lied, for various reasons.
It's unfortunate, but it happens in every aspect of life.
