Is it okay to ask other members for current book value on two cards? My guides are a bit older. Looking for accurate pricing. If not allowed I will delete.

Thank you.

2013 Panini Prizm Travis Kelce Rc #292.

ebay.

I've looked at Ebay. Not sure if I'll be looking to sell or trade these. Some traders still go by Bv.

I don’t understand why add this extra concept of book value. Shouldn’t it just be value? Even when trading, why not just value the cards based on value? I don’t trade almost ever, so maybe someone can explain it.

You just have to work it out with the other trader.

I remember when the LCS used Beckett to sell and TuffStuff to buy as there was 20% different. So which Book are you taking about? Beckett?

The same goes with the different platforms on selling E-Bay is higher the Sportlots.

98% of people I trade with does not believe Beckett. They use E-Bay, COMC or Sportlots.

As for me I do a lot of trading.

As an old school collector. The cards I trade away hold little value to me as I'm getting cards I want. If I sell, I ask for closer to what the value is so if I buy I can pay what they are asking as they are asking closer to the value.

The value is the same no matter what it is just the way someone look at it.

Based on bv of some cards vs ebay price I would love to find some of these traders. Bv is generally higher on alot of more common issues

Really is though I would be wary of any trader who only wants to use bv

I still have collectors from multiple sites that still trade by BV. And yes, Bv is usually quite higher. I just try to be prepared if I post a FT/FS thread.

Book Value is a great and accurate gauge on cards...If it was 1996

Only time I have seen it is on some ebay repacks where they promise 25.00 book value for 5.00. When buyers get the cards they get maybe 5.00 ebay value. But when commons have a book value of 50 to 75 cents and 2.00 ebay rookies have a book value of 7 or 8.00 it adds up fast

At a recent card show I saw a table that had a sticker on every single card that showed a "book price" and "our price" a couple bucks lower. Never walked past a table faster in my life!

There are still a few out there that still believes Beckett is the bible. I have no problem with that IF they use it for the cards I'm getting and the cards I trading to them. Some of those guys think it is OK to use Beckett for cards I want and Sportlots for the cards I'm trading to them. I go pass those types.

Last show I went to several table had cards marked BV $XXX and the price now.

For a lot of cards, it is hard to pin point a fair price as you see prices all over the place.

If this was for me. I use Ebay quite often. But when I start a thread with a "for sale" or "for trade" title I still see that many members still go by Bv. And if that's the way they prefer to trade, I'm all for it. Why not? Since Bv is 1-1/2 times Ebay sold. If they prefer to purchase, then I'm more than happy to use Ebay.

Possibly. At the very least, the relative values should hold, to the extent that one is cheaper than the other.

Using Beckett, I can make a complete list of every card of that player, or every card in those sets, and their relative values as well. I can make a list of every card considered to be a rookie, or every auto or numbered or jersey card.

Beckett lists 377 different Travis Kelce cards from 2013 alone, so Beckett can be a good jumping off point to see what is available and the general relative values of the various cards.

There are 24 listed as RC. These are (with High Beckett)

Lots of vintage dealers use book value in this way but the ones that move product on a regular basis sell at a low percentage of BV unless they have really high end raw stuff. One trusted dealer I use will get down into the “milk” values (2 to 4% of book) on really beat up stuff.

I used to buy a lot of stuff from a now retired older dealer who would always mark stuff at x% of book. It was awesome when someone got red hot. The book can be a good friend when you have those types of sellers/traders.

I used to do it years ago with magic card. Certain cards would be 2.00 or less per book but someone would break the card in the metagame and overnight that card could go from 2.00 to 30.00
