It’s clear Rodgers is dust at this point

Can't blame him, went from touted as one of the best WR in the league to a second fiddle with 41 years old qb who refused to throw to him lol

Not shocked if it’s true.

Rodgers has the Jets trade for Adams. Adams out-targets Wilson. Wilson’s production/value dips along with the team absolutely tanking.

I was a Rodgers backer before the season and thought he would defy odds like Brady at an “old” age. For his sake I would hope he hangs it up.

Rodgers mostly was Jekyll and Hyde when it came to facing bad teams and playoff caliber teams. Against Steelers, Vikings, Bills 5 TD, 8 INT in 4 games. Against Jaguars, Patriots, Titans 9 TD, 0 INT in 4 games

Why would he hang it up and not take 40m? Would you? Jets need to cut him, he wont retire himself and turn down the $$

Rodgers is so toxic and is winning less than Wilson did in Denver.

He’s cooked and all he’s doing at this point is poisoning the well in NY.

Purdy wants that bag! Just few weeks too late for the playoff hope but he'll get his bag

my bad wrong thread

I'm not Rodgers fan by all mean but you cant blame Jets lackluster season to Rodgers, every single part of the team is just plain bad. Rodgers did okay for the most part but this is not GB where the culture is set and the coaching is good. It's the Jets ffs

Rodgers is ded.

The team is trashed and so is he.

You think Rodgers wants to be a backup?

If he can’t find a team who will start him he’s going to retire he doesn’t need the $40 million.

It's neat because two years ago the Jets were 7-10 considered a team only a quarterback away from contention. They had the 2023 OROY and DROY and go out and sign Rodgers. He gets hurt and they go 7-10 again in 2024. Then he takes over and they struggle bus to 4 wins so far, maybe 5.

Hopefully they are able to add some QB help to turn things around. Maybe keep Taylor around has a bridge QB and mentor-type.

Agreed.

Additionally, I think he only goes to a team he thinks is playoff caliber. No way he starts for the Saints for example.

Are you for real? What kind of sane person wouldn't want to sit in the bench for 40m? I'd lick every single players feet after game for that amount of money

They should sign Justin Fields.

They should sign Justin Fields.

If Al Davis was still alive I get the feeling he'd be working to get Fields on the Raiders.

I'd be cool with Justin pretty much anywhere he'd get a legit chance to start. Jets would be cool, especially if they immediately improve.

Rodgers’ ego is not that same as you and I. I can see him walking away if he doesn’t have a starting gig.

Right?

Also I'm pretty sure $40M to a guy who has had $380M in career earnings (https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/3745/aaron-rodgers)* won't notice it as much as someone who hasn't notched $1M yet. Rodgers is fine, he'll do a podcast and get tons of money for giving vapid opinions on the take-circuit.

*and before anyone gets into it, yes I understand the $380M isn't net to Rodgers. Just like $40M isn't net to him either.

Rodgers sucked this year and he is tired of getting hit. He will only go to a contender with a decent line or won't play IMO

I agree on all accounts

The only surprising thing is the qualifier 'if Rodgers is back'. Seems to me he'd want to be somewhere else next year regardless.

The only reason he wants out of the Jets is because of Rodgers? Nah, it’s cause it’s the Jets. :)

It’s funny because he sat in a cave for 3 days to “kill his ego” and when he came out, it grew like the Grinch’s heart.

If you are a new QB coming into this team, and your weapons are Wilson, Adams, and Breece Hall. You have to like that (as far as weapons, we can all debate the organization, owner, mgmt, etc) but from a weapons standpoint, this team has the makings of a great offense. Even Tyler Conklin has proven he's a good TE. This is why I have been arguing it's a great landing spot for a Brock Purdy if they were to let him go. But I think any new QB coming in would have some toys to play with, no doubt about that.

Rodgers has these toys and flat out sucks. He's dust at this point. He couldn't move the ball at all the other day. He gets yanked, and his backup immediately drives the ball down the field and scores points.

Rodgers got his coach fired, and the team went on to do NOTHING, and look just as bad- proving it wasn't the coach.

Then the defensive side of the ball, this is a great defense with some young stars. I think this team is a QB away from playoff contention, it's just clear at this point, Rodgers is NOT that QB

That is because you are a broke azz nobody. For sure you would lick feet for $40MIL. But Rodgers isnt like you. He is worth a quarter of a billion dollars. And has an ego bigger than his ayahuasca drug stash.

Its not the same.
