View Full Version : Chris Goodwin

The 28 year old All-Pro and Super Bowl champion wide receiver is a free agent. Lots of teams have been thrown around as suitable places for him to land... including the Jaguars who just hired the previous Buccaneers offensive coordinator as Head Coach.

Should the Buccaneers resign CG or should they let him walk and go to a contender?

Discuss.

Chris GoodwinGodwin.

I think "Goodwin" plays the same position as "Cupp"?
Nobody can spell today.?

...Godwin is past his prime and coming off yet another injury. Bucs will know this as good as anyone and let him walk unless he takes a sizeable paycut. Whatever team gets him is not getting much (but that's how FA works, more often than not).

So you think he’ll be past his prime because of his injury or do you think his play suggested that?

Godwin will likely be worse, man.

His injury in 2024 was very severe, a lot of rehab. It's a tough one even with highly skilled surgeon/team or a younger player. You'd rather break the ankle than tear all ligaments and have it totally unstable, as he did. I would not doubt at all if Godwin fails the physical for teams that work him out in FA. He was clearly on the decline for years now. We shall soon see if he has anything left or how the rehab went. Either way, he hasn't really been good since Tampa Tom Brady was in town. I think he's a non-factor.

Another moronic post from the idiot who thinks Tim Tebow cards are worthless and 7 = “a few”.

He’s been on the decline for years but had 576 yards in 6.25 games last season and 1,000 yard seasons in 4 of the 5 years prior to that.

They aren't worthless, but he should have done that Logan Thomas change to stay in the League.

This was his comeback card. Looks done to me.

Great, he can run off the field quicker after he gets cut by the Jaggies (His hometown said no thanks)

He wasn’t good this year??? What are you even talking about? Dude was averaging over 90 yards a game until his injury. He was arguably a top 5 WR in the NFL through those first 6 games.

Also Brady has been gone for 2 seasons, Godwin had one okay season and then was great until injury

He’s not even 30

I'll take him on Pats. If they can get him, Kupp and Higgins this off season they could be back on top of the AFC East

Raiders are a real possibility with the Brady connection. At the right price he's a great get, especially considering the help he can provide to a RC QB. Meyers, Godwin, Tucker, and Beast Bowers would be pretty good for Sanders. That's right, I've accepted the inevitable.

That said, I'd still prefer Tee Higgins over Godwin, but he's a nice consolation if healthy.

I've read that Darnold wants to go to the Raiders to learn from Brady. Better option then Sanders in my opinion

I agree, but I keep hearing Davis is "enamored" with Sanders and Spytek is determined to trade up. It all smells like Sanders to the Raiders. I don't like it at all, but if he slides to 6 and no draft capitol or Crosby is traded to get him, I can find a way to live with that.

Either way, I'm down with acquiring Godwin.

He was at a school with a weak schedule and struggled in the few big games he played. They can get Sanders where they are at #6 (possibly Ward also), but it's doubtful they would even want to take Sanders that high.

All of the 2025 draft QBs are just guys who would've been late round picks or UDFAs in the 2024 class. It'd be a suprise if any of them are more than backups in the NFL. That is why they all went back to college (Ward declared 2024 draft, then quickly reversed and xfer schools).

Dart (huge question mark) might even be taken over Sanders by draft day, depending on how combine goes. I think nearly all pro teams are questioning if Sanders is even the #2 QB in this very weak QB draft... pretty high bust potential.

Sense the tone in my posts. I don't like Sanders, or think that Ward is a sure thing. The Raiders apparently see things different as a QB needy team.

The high first round QBs get real expensive real fast... they have to be sure it's a guy who'll be their starter (or at least given a good shot).

There just really aren't any of those in 2025 class - barring a huge surprise.

There are solid vets out there. Raiders might go with Russ, Cousins, Darnold, Mac Jones, Winston, or even ARodg under center to start 2025.
It'd be pretty high risk to bet the farm on one of the 2025 rookies (in the toughest division in NFL). There just are no Caleb or Maye or McCarthy type prospects this year. We shall see.

Pats have $120 million in cap space. Raiders have $92. Pats basically have twice as much cap as all but 4 teams. Vrabel, McDaniels and Drake Maye. They should be able to throw enough money around to get Higgins and Goodwin and absorb Kupp's salary

He's not, but he's also not calling all the shots. Brady is giving Pete and Spytek some latitude, but at the end of the day he calls the shots.

Think I’d rather have Godwin over Kupp. 3 year difference in age. Godwin coming off injury. Kupp coming off a terrible end to the season where he was basically invisible at times.

CBS Sports projected Godwin at over 22 million a year on his contract. I don't think the Bucs will keep him. They have good WR depth and figure they can spend that money elsewhere. I would not mind if GB would try to sign him as their #1 WR.

Saying Godwin has been on the decline for the past few years is crazy. Before his injury this year he was a top 5 WR statistically. The injury history if very concerning, especially this one, but at 28 he still has time to get get back to full health although he may lose a step. Even still he's one of the best possession WRs in the league.

They have to come away with Higgins but they should be able to get 2/3 and still have money to spend on O line
