Wanted to get the groups thoughts on this card. This miscut is pretty extreme in my opinion, but maybe I am wrong. Would this make this card more valuable or less? Interested in hearing all opinions. I am going to send it to be graded either way.
Ive included the miscut as well as a regular version of what it should look like.

Less. Still a great card though. :)!

Here's one I did not win. That's PSA-9-money.....

I dig these miscuts. Odd looking cards like this don’t get a ton of love in sports. The error collector in me when seeing that Gwynn thinks….how many regular PSA 9s exist for that Gwynn? How many of that error exist? I’m the sure the latter is way less…pretty unique card.
For the Nolan Ryan in the OP, it’s an interesting one to people like me who collect oddball errors. If grading, you may want to check and make sure the grading company grades it. I don’t know if this miscut is so severe that it may be deemed an error. I do know PSA doesn’t generally grade fluke misprint errors (CGC does in some cases). PSA will probably denote it “N8 Miscut” and return it without a grade, although you may be able to at least have it slabbed Authentic without a grade.

This has been historically with less in sportscards, however in Pokemon world these misprints are worth more.
With the huge increase in Pokemon collecting among sports collectors it will be interesting to see how the values change, if at all.

No, this should get the MC qualifier. Miscut/returned is for cards that aren't cut into true rectangles, normally. They don't grade wrong backs, but they will grade miscut cards.

This. And same with Marvel cards, fluke errors like this garner more attention than in sports.
On the price note, if the Ryan was mint condition or close, surely being regular you’d think would outsell an oddball like this. However, there looks to be somewhat major damage on the corner and general wear, that it’s very possible the error novelty could surpass what an equivalent condition regular version would go for.

Yea looks to be the case based on some examples I see on the bay including this one

So scratch that OP, PSA can probably grade it. I’m thinking of other fluke errors which PSA mostly doesn’t grade including wrong backs and possibly no-foils etc (I’m not much of a grader so not really my area).

Don't confuse miscut with off-center. I believe, but am not certain, that miscut starts when the next card appears.

Miscuts are kind of neat but I just couldn't bring myself to pay a premium. I got this in a complete set, but I wouldn't pay anything extra for it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20250302/ba1eff70cece795f6aca62d8c2d7d3bc.jpg

I like them too, but don't pay crazy prices for them.
This is my favorite. The sheet was folded over on itself when cut, so when un-folded, there's the extra wing that sticks out.

Visually, this one stands out for me (misprint, not miscut, but in the same spirit I think)
