Pitching looks pretty suspect, but the lineup looks like it will be good.
Stearns is a smart GM, so I expect they'll find ways to compete.

Mets bullpen is legit if they stay healthy.

So what was NY in 1961?
It was a Mets Town, just didn't know it yet. Next question! :D

17 of their 25 spring games have been vs Was, Mia, Stl, and TB. I would hope some of their pitchers look good. They were all some of the worst hitting teams last year.

Queens Gambit: How the Mets Stole Juan Soto From The Yankees
https://www.si.com/mlb/juan-soto-new-york-mets-queens-gambit-2025-season-preview
Great long read article for Mets fans
Almost 10 years later, and four seasons into his ownership of the Mets, Cohen entered the auction for free agent outfielder Juan Soto, this time very intent on buying. Having just turned 26 years old, Soto is one of the most reliably elite hitters in baseball history. He is the only player to have seven seasons through age 25 with an adjusted OPS of no worse than 142, a ranking that levels out factors such as ballparks and hitting environments. It means in his worst season, Soto was still 42% better than the average player. He has the highest floor in baseball.
“I look at it pretty simply,” Cohen says. “There wasn’t going to be another player like him on the market maybe in the next five, six, seven years. So this really was an opportunity to bring someone in at an age where you were getting him in his prime years. It’s pretty rare. I mean, we already had a pretty good club. This was an opportunity to get a special player in an opportunity that may not exist for a while.”
Guess its LOL Mets for today.

Haha, gonna be a bumpy ride. Mets had Soto at bat in the 9th with runners on, just when they would have wanted him, and he got to a 3-0 count, no less! But this time he didn't have the magic. 161 more games to play!
Funny that he was facing Hader in Houston. A pitcher who he beat memorably in the 2019 playoff run, in the stadium where he came up big in that same playoff run, as a visiting player, to win the World Series. No such magic today!
Also noting screams "little brother" more than creating a mascot race and having the bronx be an angry looking giraffe wearing a dirty t-shirt. If anything they should have the subway stop halfway through each race with no reason given lol.

My God, I already loathe most mascots in general, and those are particularly horrifying abominations! I can say sincerely that they're the worst I've ever seen.
I hope this idea to rip off the Brewers' sausage race dies out before too long. But it probably won't.

The Nats ripped them off first, but is unique enough with the presidents. This is just lame. Between this, the dancers, citi field is turning into Cohen's three ring circus.

Get the free trial, watch the Mets today, then binge watch two seasons of Severance and get down as many Slow Horses episodes as you can...then cancel.
Of course, you'll want to renew when Severance Season 3 starts.

They're just trying to have a good time at the ballpark. Don't be jealous just because Yankee Stadium is a mausoleum! :p

The play of the field is supposed to be what you're there for. No need for distractions if its a winning franchise :)

Maybe lap dances in-between inning would help?

Probably saving that for the casino he wants to build in the parking lot.

Amazing how this team is 6-3 with how bad they've been hitting. Lots of close wins, by a run or two. Bullpen is looking good, and starting pitching is getting it done somehow!

Their 1 run game record going back to last year is pretty crazy 31-17 going back to last year. That will likely revert at some point. Hoping for my fantasy team that Vientos starts hitting at least when they go to the As. Also wonder if Pete is likely to opt out now that Vlad got 35per

would think Cohen would actually try to lock him up long term now that Vladdy is off the market...

11-5 and in first place. Pitching is still getting it done, and hitting is just enough, despite some slow starts.
Went to the game last night on pretty short notice, and what a game to watch in person! ~40 degrees and a very light spinkle of rain for almost the whole game. :D
Announced attendance was a little over 10k, but that must have included the thousands of season ticket holders whose empty seats went unsold for 11 or 12 bucks apiece on stubhub.
There was a very large contingent of Mets fans, especially on the 3rd base side behind the visitor's dugout, and their chants of "Let's go Mets!" rang throughout the stadium.
Was happy to see another Soto home run in person. There weren't a lot of hard hit balls in the game by anybody, but that one was a nice shot to deep right center. Ron Acuña's little brother showed some hustle. Maybe they will have a player there.

I don't think they will. If they really wanted to do that they already would have instead of playing hardball with him.

They are beating the teams they should, but they haven't really looked that great given they've played a lot of bad teams.
