So I'm thinking of putting together 2020-2022 full Topps sets. I'd like to be able to do base, inserts, non-numbered autos/gu/patches and maybe the gold /20xx.

Has anyone completed a similar set? I'm looking for tips and guidance. Thanks all.

Simply just putting the gold sets together would be a monumental task. Easiest method to do the base set would be to outright buy factory sets.

I bought a case or two of each for fun and to give me a head start. Looking like COMC or lots on ebay would be next steps. Maybe posting something in the Buy/Sell/Trade on here.

Make it easy on yourself and start with the SSP's and SP's of each year. You might find that challenging enough. Buy singles though. 1 per 5-10-20 cases is rough. I'd also recommend just putting together the Topps Chrome Sapphire sets. They mirror the base sets which inlcude Update, are more exclusive, there are no factory sets in the years you mentioned and you could still buy boxes at a decent price to start. If I recall correctly in 2019, the estimated print run was roughly 1200 per. Obviouslyt it likely went up as the years progressed but that's still a lot lower than the gold sets at 2020.

I remember as a kid my local card shop guy was building the 1993 Topps Gold set when it came out. And that took a good long while. It was before ebay, so it would take me going to shows with a list of numbers helping him out.

I've been slowly working on the 2004 Topps Gold set since 2004. I haven't really done much in recent years because it was for my son who was born in 2004 but he doesn't really care about cards. They're still his though and I probably will finish it someday.

Look at sportlots. Shipping tends to be less than COMC with faster delivery.

Disclaimer: Yes, I have a sportlots store but very little inventory in the years you are after so I'm not spamming my store.

There is also a facebook set builders group. "Baseball Card Set Builders ~ Keep it real!". You can buy/sell starter sets and trade with other set builders.

A person can often find bulk lots of parallels on eBay, especially for current product. The older it gets, the less likely to find bulk. This could be a useful method for putting together the Gold or Rainbow Foil sets. Sometimes you'll even get other parallels thrown in that you can sell or trade. The stars are typically readily available as singles.
