I just saw a post about a breaker hitting the Daniels/RGIII dual DT 1/1. After looking for the posts mentioned, I realized I had to watch their story on IG, which implies that the person who hit it in the break sent it to Goldin to auction it off, and it went for $10,250, which I'm guessing is the first increment above the $10K verification cutoff for bidders who haven't completed the KYC.

Considering a horizontal green kaboom of JD5 in a PSA 8 went for $85K, what do we think happened here? The breaker allegedly tried to rescue the card at auction but was capped at $10K due to a lack of KYC/financial verification, and I also saw the 2024 chourio superfractor went at $10K along with a couple others I'd have expected to go considerably higher. On the flipside, a bowers PSA 8 went for $13K...

This makes me think that not many people have completed Goldin's KYC (big problem for an outfit offering "Elite" auctions, or not many people are looking to buy through them due to the premium. Can someone help me understand what happened here? My only theories are that there was a lack of marketing on some of the cards, not enough people verified to bid above $10K (seems kind of low), complete lack of interest due to Dual DownTown AI slop, or people suddenly decided downtowns are worth ~1/8th of 1/1 horizontal kabooms

People just don't like the dual downtowns as much as the solo cards, the michael penix (solo) downtown 1/1 went for about half what his (vertical) green kaboom did, and there are two jayden daniels gold downtowns that went for $25k and $30k

Anyone spending that kind of money on Downtowns or Kabooms are complete fools.I agree... they are crappy little kid retail pack chase cards in my eyes. Add the Explosive to the list.

The funny thing to me is that the Heroes cards (Prestige?) are cartoon low valued.... yet Downtown cards have high-ish value with even worse art? Dunno.

If there is a cheezy insert I actually like, it's probably Crunch Time, lol. (but wouldn't pay for it)

The hypebois and 'influencers' needed content for their 'preciate it, bro video blog channel flexes, and these filled that void.

Serial numbered ones, sure, I get that those should have value. Non numbered... well, I guess some of them weren't even born yet for the Fleer bankruptcy and how that went.

Probably the dual, even the best rookie autos are worth less if they are a dual, especially when RG3 isn't a GOAT, this isn't JD5 and Brady or something.

This post epitomizes why I hate what this former hobby has become.

I assume the chatgpt prompt here was: write the most boorish post on Panini insert cards you can

I know out of the box they are already high prices but as long as they dont print 10,000 of each, they will have long term value as a lot of young kids want these cards and will in 10-20-30 years when they are in the workforce. Obviously value will be determined by player and performance but there is no doubt, they are a legacy insert.
