View Full Version : Ohtani interpreter level of regret...

I went to search back through my threads here but it doesn't matter because Photobucket isn't logging images anymore.
At any rate, when Ohtani was a rookie I was drawn to him and really enjoyed the dual style of play. I collected every single base card from every set and graded them all (most were 10's, some 9's). I then decided to grab some special cards and autos.
These are all long gone at this point, and I'm not sure why I'm opening this wound. But what does this look like in present day value?

Holy cow!! Close that and never open it again. My biggest Ohtani regret was selling my 2018 Topps Clear Acetate /10 RC here for a measly $200. The buyer flipped it for $1400, I believe, on eBay. Hopefully, he has as much regret as I do.

Yeah that's a lot of pain but remember you can't predict the future and he could have easily been a bust as well

I've sold Michael Jordan, LeBron James, non-sports and hockey that are all well above $100k each now. I regret not getting $100k+ for each, but I don't regret selling because no one saw these prices as an eventual reality.
Yeah, but OUCH.

It really depends on what you did with the money.
If you blew your profits on breaks, then yes, you should feel really sick.
But if you invested your money in say NVDA or PLTR stock, you still made out ok.

Did you make money on the sales? If so, pain should be minimal :)

Honestly. If you haven't sold or traded away a card or six or a hundred too early then you're probably already super rich so it doesn't matter.
Happens to everyone.

Heritage Low (PSA 10) - 12,000
Heritage High (PSA 10) - 14,000
Topps Chrome (PSA 10) - 9,000
Bowman Chrome Pitching Green (PSA 9) - 14,000
Finest Mystery (PSA 10) - 10,000
19 Throwback (PSA 10) - 5,000
Sapphire (PSA 10) - 4,000
19 SC 1/1 - 8,000 ish
19 Tier One - 3,000
19 Diamond Icons - 3,000

Assuming grades are right, about $75.5K. I think you also sold a Topps 700B Hand on Helmet SSP too in PSA 10 which goes for $11K.

I hope OP made good profit if not I don't understand going that all-in on a player to just flip in a few years. If I saw that collection I'd assume it was a big Shohei collector that stil owned all these.
