Oh dang, thanks for the heads up! I had bought a box a couple years ago of the ones they did for overseas. These look even better! We picked up a Mega box of their Squishmallow cards the other day, they're very well done and a lot of fun. I love sets like these!

I was trying to get a hobby from Panini this morning and they literally sold out within 1-2 mins of going live. As soon as it went live i clicked add to cart and got errors.
Eventually, it just said no longer available.

All i could do was LOL who knew there were this many minecraft fans. (resellers)

Prior to listing on Panini for $79.99 some presells (DA) were at 109.99.
Guess what happened after it sold out. Prices went up. Typical hobby move.

Retail doesn't seem bad for price. 1 #d per box or so.
Megas seem like the best dollar per card ratio.

What is the actual difference between the hobby preferred boxes and the mega boxes. I know you get two #d cards in a hobby preferred box and more cards, are the odds of hits better also?

The hobby preferred and retail SKUs have a lot of overlap. (I think there's only 1 version of hobby so i'll just call it Hobby)

The only hobby exclusive is the Pandora /15 and that is not guaranteed in a box.
From what I have seen the hobby comes with about 4-5 parallels and a few base chromes. The box says 2 parallels per box *on average*

Haven't seen too many blaster openings but they could also be 1 #d per box.

The megas say 1 # per box but i've seen some with 2 #d in a box.

Blaster and Megas get the retail Cubic parallels and Hobby does not. Hobby has the non-numbered stone/cobblestone parallel that can be found in retail.

Case hits, 1/1s, /10s, etc are available in all SKUs.

With current price points, the Megas at 24.99 seem like the best price per card.
It's essentially double of a what a 14.99 blaster contains.
Hobby at $79.99 was great but at $120+ idk.

Haven't seen a case opened so could be off on some of this stuff.
I will say judging by how few base chromes you get in boxes putting that set together will be a HUGE undertaking. Goodluck to those.

Once one of those youtube influencers drop a video, then they could go up. Especially if they hit a colorblast on camera lol

Singles aren't hot but the right characters could be worth something.
Definitely a fun product.

Also, the print run for Hobby must be lowish for Panini standards. Seems like they have 4-5 numbered per box. There aren't too many sellers out there either.
D&A keeps going in and out of stock...could be a selling tactic though.
Sealed could have value down the line.

I picked up a blaster of this at Walmart at lunch. I could see kids having fun collecting the base cards. Some of the characters look neat. I’m not too familiar with the game.

The other cards just depict scenes from the video game and are pretty boring. The scenes depicted just appear too small on the card.

It doesn’t look like I hit anything in my blaster. Likely will throw the base in with my next COMC shipment.

Bought some Megas last night at Target, wife and I opened them. Both of us and our kids all play Minecraft, it's a really fun set. I love how they put some thought into the set, looking at it from a fan of the game. We had a few Megas with multiple numbered cards. Definitely a big set to put together.

Fortnite series 1 mega boxes in particular contained crystal shard cards with a potential big hit. The similarities are that the boxes were cheap just like these when they first sold. A US print series 1 megabox are now circa $6-800 range now. They were a lot higher but like things during the pandemic the prices dropped, they are still significantly more expensive then release.

I personally bought most of my boxes to rip and I'll buy up items I think are undervalued as people continue to chase the latest hype in the markets.

I don't think people realise just how big the video game market is, Minecraft only released in 2011 and it's like the 7th biggest video game franchise of all time already.

At $25 a megabox for the size of the franchise they were a no brainer to buy and enjoy.

I remember that new TCG game from Topps or someone don’t even remember the name now also being a “potential perfect storm” lol and I’m sure boxes of the first release of that sell well too I’m jus speaking on overall popularity, the average person isn’t paying $600 for Fortnite cards it’s not going to the intended audience at that price it’s just more speculation money moving hands.

I def realize how big the video game market is which is another reason I question as Halo is also one of the biggest games of all-time with a fanbase prob aged better to afford cards and yet again I don’t know what sealed will be down the line but it def doesn’t feel like it made a huge splash. Minecraft isn’t Halo obv but not all major game franchises have become in the card world.

Anyway all that aside tried two blaster packs with the outcome determining whether I bought a mega. Two weak cubic parallels so passed on Megas, honestly thought they’d be all-Chrome like Squishmallows, not being a fan of either I’d prob have more fun ripping that. The greetings inserts taken from Hoops etc are pretty cool, as mentioned the random scenes/achievements cards are pretty dull. Honestly cards feel kinda cheap for Panini too, if it was chrome I’d like it 10x better. From research looks like we are trying to hit the Chicken Jockey? Lol

Did anyone see a checklist for this stuff anywhere? Panini didnt have anything listed. I bought a few blasters and not sure what hits are outside of the numbered cards vs the different color borders. Got some megas on the way to open also.

Completely agree with you, times and demand change of ofcourse! Unfortunately in the grand scheme of things Halo isn't that big of a franchise in terms of active players / following. Zelda as an example has a reasonable card collector scene in comparison so it's definitely franchise specific.

Yeah it seems like Chicken Jockey is becoming a bit of a chase card lol. I personally like some of the minecraft milestone cards and picked a couple up.

From what I've read and seen, megas seem to generally have 2 x #d cards and each pack has a cubic parallel. A colorblast or minecraft milestones might replace one of the #d cards but not 100% sure.

I had a lot of fun with this one and I know little about the game other than when my nephews (now grown) would play it 10+ years ago. $80 is great value. I might even go back to GameStop tomorrow to see if they have anymore.

The woman that checked me out was really nice. She said they’ve been ramping up selling trading cards over the last year or so. She said they also do a good business in submitted cards through PSA as well (a service they just recently started offering).

Nice hit! It looks like the llama chrome 1/1 got best offered down from 5k to $500 and the goat 1/1 chrome got best offered down from 5k to $760. Frog is, I believe, along those lines. I would probably hold if it were mine, the 1/1 chrome characters are the "best" cards in the product.

Yeah he is now foaming at the mouth to get more. I am sure he will be disappointed that we spent all of luck on this box, but the cards look nice. However, we got a ton of wildly off center cards (some are even slanted) and the edges are abysmal. Thankfully the 1/1 is in great shape, but most of t her r other cards are rough.

Paper:
Iron (looks like foil) = /475
Gold = /99
Diamond = /10
Netherite (kinda darker looking foil) = 1/1

Optichrome:
Iron (looks like normal prizm silver) = /149
Gold = /49
Pandora = /15 (hobby only)
Diamond = /10
Netherite (kinda darker looking silver) = 1/1

Non-Numbered:
Stone & Chrome Stone (both hobby & retail)
- base chromes look like stone parallel
Cubic (retail only)

All SKUs get a chance at numbered except hobby exclusive Pandora /15 and retail cubic non-numbered.

Yeah… I did a blaster and didn’t get any numbered. As mentioned above the megas and hobby boxes were the better value (assuming you got at MSRP). I’m going to go to one last Walmart tomorrow but I think that’s the end for this release. Reminds me of Marvel Platinum last Easter. Fun break!

My son and I have had very similar experience with the megas/blasters, outside of the collation. The base cards/base parallels are in terrible shape. The optichrome seem to be in excellent condition. We have enjoyed the set greatly and hopefully will be able to complete our sets soon.

hey we got the same feedback from a few more people and we indeed found out there are 2 versions of the "stone" variant... matte and gloss. what is interesting is that in the gloss variant there is also a white rectangle box at the back as if they were supposed to be numbered... not sure if this is actually a miss from their printer or intended, but in any case, we updated the guide: https://holohoard.com/blog/2025/05/panini-minecraft-checklist-rarity-guide/ and also the infographic. cheers!
