Nice to see after his struggles recently. First 4 homer game since JD Martinez in 2017.

A rare accomplishment, for sure.
Eugenio is only the 19th to do it.
(There's been 24 perfect games thrown as a comparison.)
Congrats to Suarez.

Very difficult feat to accomplish. Still remember when Scooter Genett did it…

Feels very Mark Whitten- like in prestige.
Helluva night. He’s such a solid vet in that lineup.

As I was explaining to my better half, you have to win when one of your players hits 3 HR in game. She then informed me that he hit a 4th, and they lost :(

Another crazy stat is just 5 RBIs on 4 homers....

I don’t recall seeing home run leaders in both leagues with Mendoza like batting averages. It’s a safe bet that if both Trout and Suarez win a home run title with the way their averages are, it may be a first for sub .200 winners in the same season.

And they still lost.
That’s unfortunate.
I wonder how many times the player’s team lost after hitting 4 hr in a game?
Any stat pros out there?

That's because all his teammates we're trying to swing for the fences as well, so there was nobody on base for three of them.
Two-run and three-run homers are becoming increasing scarce thanks to the launch angle "revolution", and it's not uncommon to see games with 6-7 solo home runs.
I think there was one game last season that had 13 home runs....11 of which were solo shots.

Is this analogous to all the nba players wanting to shoot 3 pointers now, including the centers?
Everyone is just swinging for the fences.

Yep. And it was the Braves (Bob Horner) that had the 4 HRs on 7/6/86.
Baseball is wild.

I remember Mike Schmidt's 4 HR gm against the Cubs on a day the wind was definitely blowing out at Wrigley. There was a total of 9 hr's hit in the gm that ended 18-10 Phillies.

And they still lost.Just shows how little one person can do to win a baseball game. It's the ultimate team sport.

Same weekend as the NFL draft, and during the NBA & NHL playoffs.
Baseball is largely a media afterthought until mid-summer.

Also it was Arizona and Suarez. ESPN is only going to cover it if its Ohtani or Judge.

Former White Sox Mike Cameron against my White Sox is the one I'll always remember. To add to the craziness of 4 hr, Cameron hit his 4th of the game in the 5th inning! And Cameron and Brett Boone also went back-to-back twice.

According to a wikipedia page Suarez is the 3rd time it's happened.
The aforementioned Horner and Ed Delahanty: 7/13/1896. Team lost 8-9.
