2024-25 O-Pee-Chee Platinum case break

O-Pee-Chee Platinum is usually my favorite opening and a couple small issues aside, that continues this year. My quibbles are design based, the retros and rookie design are going to be a bear to get centered and I don't think a single rainbow retro from my boxes had any left borders at all.

Otherwise fun rip, and my luck might influence it. Autos were mostly meh, with updates too involved. To be expected as a lot of RC are SP in this, not just the top 3 or 4.

Good stuff, particularly the Nazar ... Hawks bias, of course.

I've never broken Platinum with any regularity in the past, but we grabbed the first box out of the first case at the LCS on release day - and hit a Hutson Violet Pixels auto /65. Fun product made even better by that pull.

Was hoping you’d rip this! Nah but seriously I enjoy your breaks they are usually near the products release and give a good preview of what one can possibly expect.

I love OPC Platinum but prices being the same as last year with Bedard is crazy, if that’s the new price format going forward I’ll pass especially when I’ve never done particularly well.

Very nice on the hits, love the Retros and the Houndstooth Leon is sick. 1/1 is of course a banger and the Hutson is nice although the effect is either not showing in pic or weak as it kind of just looks like a silver or rainbow whatever it’s called in Platinum. One thing I’ll say that may be unpopular is I don’t see a huge leap in these parallels looking better than Allure, sure they will always be in different price brackets due to on-card vs sticker autos but parallel wise I’d just as rather have an Allure if a similar number if it’s half the price of a Platinum one

You are right about the Hutson, the Arctic Freeze does not pop very much, neither does the pond hockey. In hand the gold and orange are very bold. Allure last year had an argument for quality, but they really tanked the Allure parallels and inserts this year.

Huge Hawks fan here too, the Nazar was by far my favorite in the case.

Yeah that’s weird cause others pop even the Houndstooth looks really good. Definitely keep posting breaks I think it’s just a sign of the times that the actual break section is slightly dead across most sports. It’s not that there isn’t interest (as you can see others replied/viewed) besides me it’s just that at some point people wanted their attention or “clout” so any big hits were just posted in the appropriate thread in the main forum so a lot less people felt a need to hit up the break section, anything big can just find there. Also one thing I love about yours are photos, even I stopped checking these abit as 80% of posts became just words of what was hit (super boring to me) or links to YouTube vids (fine but still post some photos/breakdown)

I was actually hoping you’d rip Parkhurst Champions lol Parkhurst the name has a bad rep but I actually think that product is pretty solid and affordable for one hit especially when it drops in price after awhile. Don’t think there was a peep or post about it even on the main hockey board lol design this year is pretty nice too

I actually did rip one box of Parkhurst and it was decent enough. I like the slightly oversized 53-54 style pack/box they put in, and I did get a rookie auto (Honzek) which looks nice on card..

My latest opening I probably won't post, cracked open 125 packs of Topps 1982 Hockey stickers and picked up an empty album to fill. Hilarious mustaches, young Gretzky and Messier and shockingly the stickers still stick.

I have mixed feelings about the designs this year. Some of the usual variations look very weak compared to last year - in particular red prizm and arctic freeze and even seismic gold colors look so muted.

Perhaps they look better in hand. I do love the new houndstooth design, I was never a fan of the past year's designs.

I'd say the Blue Fragments and, of all things, Sunset look best in hand. Gold Prism are better in hand too, but not quite as vibrant as prior years.

Biggest downer was the Arctic Freeze and Cosmic looking too similar except for the upper right side of the cards.
