Hi All,
I'm usually over in the Football section, but have a basketball related question. I've got a 1986 Fleer Basketball set and the Sticker set that my mom bought back in 1986. It's time to try to sell the set to pay off some other things. Couple of questions for the group.
I know the Michael Jordan cards need to be graded before selling. Is PSA the only way to go for grading those cards (rookie card and sticker)?
Should I grade other cards, or just the Jordan's?
Thoughts on how best to sell the set? Looking at auction houses, but is that the best option?
Thanks in advance for any information!

I’d think psa is your best bet for grading.
You definitely need to grade the jordan and jordan sticker prior to selling.
Beyond that I would say any of the big rookies that are in psa 8 condition or better would do better graded. For the commons / stars any mint cards are likely worth grading based off having an outside shot at a 10.
For a lower grade set I think finding an in person deal or selling here would potentially be more worthwhile then sending to an auction house or paying the high ebay fees.

post a semi-quasi sell post in the wrong section sneakily... that seems to work out great...
What condition are we talking?pack fresh well centered?worn and off center?off center with touched corners?advice is going to change based on condition.price is going vary widely....some commons in high grade are pricey.
also what are you looking to get money wise out of it?how much n grading fees are you willing to deal with?all these questions need answers before anyone can give you any meaningful advice.

Just grade the Jordans and go from there.

definitely this, but show the set, then people can make informed recommendations on the rest.

First, you have to evaluate the condition of the set. Do they look pack fresh and blazers or something a little less? If it's the former, this is the type of set where you might be incentivized to grade every single card in the set that looks gem mint as even commons in PSA 10 can go for hundreds. Condition is everything. If it's the latter, definitely the MJs along with blue chip RCs and skip the rest. Stickers carry huge premiums in PSA 9 or higher (look for wax on back).
You can sell as a set on Ebay or any auction house as these will get market value anywhere.
Maybe post some pics?

Thanks all for the great comments. I truly am not trying to sell the set here right now. Just looking for advice at this point.
The cards are overall in great shape, and have been in a binder since the 80s. Centering is always an issue on some cards but most have sharp corners. I will try to figure out how to post some photos in the coming days. Thanks again all for the advice!

Seems pretty straightforward. He's looking to sell and is getting advice on grading. He has no intention to sell to some random Blowout member.

Yeah, I think it was late at night when I read that. In hindsight, it does make sense. Thank you.
