Hate Chrome, don't care about the property, won't be able to get any of it anyway... but it's a good idea and they should license more properties like this.
Unfortunately it's a symptom of the high-endification that this is a weird chrome release only available to rich jerks instead of/alongside of a more democratic cheap base/sticker release that normal kids can actually rip in volume.

Pop Mart turned Labubu dolls into gambling products by selling them in blind boxes. That market has already crashed. Now Topps wants to print images of Labubu's on trading cards and also sell them in blind boxes.

I'm confused, the site is completely out of stock and everyone around me says they're impossible to get. So if you have a link for authentic dolls lmk
At our state fair in August the hot thing was lafufu dolls which are blatant knockoffs

Ive seen them drop products with cases having ZERO discount. The most ive seen is like a 10% discount. But 40% is INSANE....

Mistake. They'll catch it and cancel if it is indeed 20 boxes. They don't let mistakes like this slip. They did this for an F1 product a year or two back that I checked out. Cancelled everything and relisted at the correct price.
Lets not forget, however, that their employees are the opposite of elite talent. So these may be 12 box cases and not 20 as stated.

What work? Taking a minute to list it on eBay, and upon receipt (from Topps), re-taping the package and dropping it off on your next visit to USPS/UPS/FedEx?
Most people, including BO members, work a lot harder/longer for less.

Say you make $45 a box and sell all 10 to the same buyer. Slap a new label on the parcel Topps shipped to you. I mean thats about 3-5 minutes of work for $450 profit. Who wouldn't take that?

Yes, this makes more sense than to sell for a $5 profit like I have seen others do on other products. I always wondered if people just don't understand how ebay fees are calculated or just trying to get money back so they can pay off their CC debt.

Controlling price is key for fanatics
Only having a handful of places that can sell any real quanity
2-5x ing the price of everything.. people have no choice if they want it
Would be like if target amazon walmart were the only places that sold bread and milk .. then they raised the price of bread to 20 dollars

Two good rules of thumb are to buy only cards (or anything else) you wouldn't mind getting stuck with, and only at a price you're comfortable paying should you not be able to get anything back reselling the product.

This is something that I worried about a lot in the past but now I rest easy knowing that the person buying my box(es) aren’t buying to open it for themselves. Online breakers couldn’t care less if anything good comes out because they make all their money up front. I haven’t really worried much about selling boxes over the past couple of years.

Never had that happen to me. I’ve had people attempt to “abuse” the system in their favor over the years though. Many stopped after I shared eBay’a definition of card condition (for those buying raws and only wanting gem mint cards) or if I said I’d be happy to call them at their home/work number (and send them a screenshot of their name/mailing address/phone number) to discuss the (bs) issue.
If it’s a genuine issue/mistake on my end though, I always own up to it. But if someone tries to game the system and screw me over, I fire with fire.
These days, probably less of that going on (opening a box and returning it) via eBay due to our cancel culture.

I have a good variety, including the Amex Platinum. I'm what you would call a "point/travel hacker" so I use different ones for different things. A few that have helped the most with our travel:
1) Amex Platinum - I could buy a house with what they let me spend on this thing, so just having the spend ability is huge. But when you spend over $5k you get x2 points per dollar. Best use IMO is transfer to Hilton when they have their bonus. You can transfer 1,000 points and get 2,500 Hilton points during these promotions. We use them in Maui for the Grand Waliea Waldorf Astoria property. I would rank it as one of the best family resorts in the world. And their redemption rates are rock solid.
2) Amex Delta - My wife and I have both achieved Diamond status with Delta with the spend on this card. Free upgrades to Delta One lay flat beds going to Europe is truly incredible. Those seats can cost $10k or more and we have gotten them for free after buying Main Cabin seats.
3) Chase - You have to have the right version, but Chase to Hyatt hotels in also incredible. Some of the nicest resorts around the world are Hyatt properties and we like these for our couples trip each year.
I could go on and on because I love the topic so much, but to repeat, anyone who uses a debit card is throwing away free money. I realize most people cannot put the spend on their cards that I do each month, but even a 2% cashback card can net you a couple nice steaks at Outback every month. :)!

Thanks for the info but my steaks I cook are better than outback

Then go to Red Lobster and get a free lobster tail.:)!
I'm a sucker for a steak. I'll eat them at home, at Outback, on a cruise ship, or anywhere else that is offering them up. We even planned a weekend trip about 2 years ago based around a steak.:D We flew to Houston so I could eat at the Taste of Texas a second time after finding it the year before. SOOOO good, and I got to watch a ballgame that same weekend. Nothing better than a good steak and some baseball.

Amex is dangerous :D
When I was given basically 'no credit limit' (ie spend what you want) by them I had to start treating the card like a loaded weapon.

TY was around for almost ten years too before Beanie Babies became huge. We all know how that played out and how quickly the fad fizzled.
The creator of Beanie Babies is worth $7.3 billion. Ty still makes hundreds of millions of dollars a year selling bean bag plush to this day. The Beanie Babies line just evolved into other Ty products like Beanie Boos, Beanie Bellies, etc.

And?
My point was that these fads come and go. Are beanie baby's selling for big money or selling them in blind boxes to encourage gambling? If Topps put out a Beanie Baby trading card set today, would it be selling for hundreds of dollars per box?
I never said Ty went bankrupt, just that the popularity of Beanie Baby's was here today, gone today basically. Pop Mart may go the route of Ty and continue on with other products, but I don't think the popularity of Labubu is going to be something that goes on to be a years long thing.

5 pages in and I still don't know what Labubu is. Guess I'm too old.
It's a monster character that originated in a series of picture books by Chinese artist Kasing Lung. The book series is reminiscent of the Where the Wild Things Are storybook. There's not much more to it -- the dolls became a fad for a few months. They were promoted by female influencers and celebrities and became a fashion accessory for young women. They were also promoted as a gambling product due to being packaged in so-called blind boxes and the inclusion of high-value limited-edition variations.

Topps website does say:
"5 Chrome® Cards Per Pack! 1 Pack Per Box.
(1) Chrome Parallel
(4) Chrome Base Card Complete Set
(1) Topps X Labubu Keychain & Magnetic Case Holder
Look for Artist Autographs!"
Note the (4) Chrome Base Card Complete Set
This means there's only 4 cards to the whole set. And the 5th card could be any parallel from these:
"Refractor
10th Anniversary Border
Artist Facsimile
Speckle Refractor /499
Purple /299
Blue /150
Green /99
Gold /50r
Orange /25
Black /10
Red /5

Kids and young adults have the attention span of a goldfish these days. There is such a small window to cash in on a viral trend. Before that virus is dead.
skibidi toilet movie was announced when all that nonsense blew up. Its been over a year and a half since then, and not even a script yet. Thats dead in the water already.
As for the knockoffs selling out. Blame stupid relatives Christmas shopping. I know my two preteen daughters had Labubu on their X-Mas lists. And I also know that my extended family, all 35+ years of age, don't know what these are. And went out and bought "Lafufu" thinking its all one in the same.
Blame ignorance and the holidays for knockoffs selling out.
Definitely a strange release. These belong at the Pop Mart locations exclusively to the casual shopper. Not a fun rip whatsoever.
Yup. I give Topps credit, the mag and keychain holder were great ideas. Labubu is meant to clip to your backpack so other kids know you have one. Bringing that idea into the card pack was smart.
A Labubu doll blind box is about $35ish retail. These should be the same price as that I'd think. $50 is not a stretch either. Asking $100+, to the most likely buyers for Labubu might be a reach.
Good for Topps that most box buyers are just addicts. As the value is in the fun of opening these, like the dolls. And not is the actual contents.
