Ive purchased this card a long time ago from a trusted guy who pulled it from a pack long time ago. I have no doubt that its the real one. But I have noticed that all the other 2000 MVP Pro Sign Kobe autos are with blue tint, while mine looks like black tint (sorry about the quality, I might upload better quality image later on if needed). Has the blue tint somehow gotten darker overtime, or could it be that there was a pen switch during signing session? Are there any experts here on this topic, would love to know more about this, thank you in advance!

The ink is fading.

Agree on the fading. Still a very nice card though.

blue ink turns to black, then gray then light gray. There is no stopping it once the fading begins unfortunately. You can only slow it down by keeping it in darkness at all times.

Its a fabulous card but the value is naturally in the auto so there would be a discount to comps in an auction with your card. It may make sense to sell this now while Kobe is scorching hot and flip that cash into another auto with bright blue ink.

Light damage for sure.

Still a nice card.

The auto looks really prefect on this one, at least for me. I have several others but this is the only one with 8 and IMO perfect K, it’s my favorite one and not sure I could ever let it go.. AI says that blue don’t fade into this type of black(I’ve provided lots of images to it) it fades into gray(or lighter blue definitely not darker), and gives bigger probability for pen switch in signing session. Thanks everyone for your comments.

I'm sorry, Torro, but I need to agree with the others. Looks like faded blue auto.

Thanks to all, seems like everyone agrees about the fading.. I’ve been keeping in a sealed box for +5 years, taking it out just couple times a year on average, seems to look the same as it always has been. Someone said that once it starts to fade there is no stopping it, what is the expected timeline, when the fading will start to change more lighter gray and hurting the eye?

Either I'm color blind or crazy, but it looks black to me. And the signature looks damn perfect. Beautiful card. If it was mine, I would take super high-res scans of the card, pack it up in a black film negative storage bag, and vault it up. Enjoy the high res scans

It's a faded blue auto. No idea what the timeline is. If it's your favorite card and will be in your PC forever, who cares?

If you keep it in the dark and only take it out once or twice a year, it should be fine for a long time.

If you ever want to sell/trade it, probably best to do it sooner rather than later.

Yes it is my favorite Kobe card and I have literally +1000 Kobe cards I would sell before this one. I plan to keep it forever, but if the auto fades like ive seen with some of the earlier Kobe autos, then its not really the same card anymore (I love how the auto looks, its perfect for me at least), and that makes me a bit worried..

I made some more images with best possible light I have at home, but im still struggling to get a better image with iPhone 13.. The one that looked best quality does not really seem that good anymore after cropping and uploading it..
