Question about 2011 Topps Series 2

I just bought a blaster from target of Topps series 2 baseball.
2 packs had all cards but the inserts had old school cardboard backing? I've not see this before. I was under the impression that only the old inserts may have original backing but not all of the cards in the pack.

Kinda cool to see an Ichiro card with a brown old school cardboard backing.

Is this just Topps being dumb? I'm guessing so. No extra $$ for topps screwups I'm sure.

Let me know if this is a common occurrence.

If you look at the top flap on your blaster box, you'll see, in small black type, "Includes 2 packs of exclusive throwback parallel cards".

So, yes, it is common - just not in all blasters. My first one I bought had the throwbacks; my second one did not.

Ohhh ok. I had only bought packs up until today so I never saw that. Good to know.
