Yet another "back in my day" threads....lol
I was just looking through some boxes and stumbled upon one of the UD flight team graded RC's from 2001. Seeing that reminded me about my first ever big auto pull a box of basketball cards. In my first box of the product I pulled the Kobe Bryant redemption for the Key signatures subset. I waited and got my redemption, then graded it and got a 9.5. The card was beautiful, probably still one of my favorite designs made for an auto card in its simplicity (much like that years legends set)
Seeing the small areas for auto's and the designs which makers and putting out now really saddens me, just look back at the card designs of the past where auto's were just put on card in a way which flowed perfectly with the overall look, no need for a grey'd out box...or cut sig box, it actually let the player sign freehanded instead of in a small sticker or designated space.
I dont collect much anymore, but I'm thinking I might save up and get that kobe back, the design still pleases my eye today.
