I dont know how much longer I can't last! The problem is, we (braves) shoulda scored in the bottom of the 6th with 2nd and 3rd, no outs!! Which woulda gave Hanson the win!

Braves win on Scott Proctor(you read that right) single where the runner was not only out by a mile at home, but called safe before he even touched the plate. That might the worst call I've ever seen.

That was absolutely the worst call I have ever seen. Unbelievable. I really wanted to see Clint punch him in the face.

Umpire should get a hefty fine for blowing that game.

I would say that call was worse than the Galaragga call last year. Absolutely terrible. And I'm even a Braves fan

Has anyone ever successfully protested a game? This should be picked up again in the exact spot in the game Thursday before the series finale.
Just stunned that he could make that call. McKenry tagged him 3 times. And the guy never touched the plate.

I would agree with this after thinking about it. That call just was the deciding factor of a perfect game not whether the Tigers won or lost. This call lost the game for the Pirates.

She got on my nerves by the 10th inning when she started. I'm glad they finally won but that's the worst call I have ever seen! Its getting out of hand with all of this bad calls in the past 2 month.

GIF of the replay. Seems to be a lot of people who actually think the ump got it right...

I hope the Pirates can and do protest. There is no excuse for that bad of a blown call. If that ump is not suspended or fined big time, something is beyond wrong.

From Twitter, they cannot formally protest the game. How the hell is that not something you can protest? I'm really really pissed right now.

Wow. Just... wow. I mean, i'm glad the Braves won and all, but I'd rather us lose than win on that cheap a$$ call. What the hell was the ump watching? Plus, our hitter fell down. That was like watching the circus. I'm sorry Pirates fans / Daniel McCutchen. That was just horrible.

He was right on top of it. Maybe he called safe by accident, and was to embarrassed to change it?

Meals’ explanation of his game-ending safe call Bowman's Blog (http://markbowman.mlblogs.com/2011/07/27/meals-explanation-of-his-game-ending-safe-call/)
“I saw the tag, but he looked like he oléd him and I called him safe for that. I looked at the replays and it appeared he might have got him on the shin area. I’m guessing he might have got him, but when I was out there when it happened I didn’t see a tag.
“I just saw the glove sweep up. I didn’t see the glove hit his leg.”

Seriously, I cracked up watching Proctor eat dirt. I hate hearing Chip Caray, guy annoys the hell out of me. And it's simply inexcusable to call him safe like that. He had the play infront of him the whole time, this was not a bang bang play either. He called him safe before he even touched home. I'm pissed and Im a Braves fan. There should be no reason why the pirates can't challenge and win the appeal. The umpire was horrible all night, but this is just mind blowing.

Jerry must've had to taken a wicked piss, because that seriously was the worst call I've ever seen. I mean come on!
As a fan of the pirates and their impressive season...I hope their shot at the playoffs doesn't come down to one game...

One of the worst calls of all time......Maybe someone slipped the ump some cash before the inning started..
Catcher looked in his glove to just make sure that he still had the ball because theres no other way that he was safe

Let's not lose sight of the most important thing from this game. Daniel Mccutchen has 80 speed, that boy can fly!

I'm not really a baseball fan anymore, but if it takes this much replay and frame-frame images to see if there was/wasn't a tag and then people still have doubts - you gotta cut the ump some, not all, slack

^There wasn't a need for replay, it was clear as day when the play happened.

That was the most awful call I've seen ever since becoming a baseball fan...and I'm a Braves fan. I don't think this win was "deserving" and the Braves even said "this kind of win doesn't make us feel good". Everybody seems to have forgotten how McLouth and Gonzalez both got tossed out of the game for calling an obvious ball a strike. That umpire needs some glasses, seriously. The Pirates filled a formal complaint against Meals' call. Anybody read it on mlb.com?
That game stressed me out a lot watching how bad the Braves were playing with runners in scoring positions with no outs. I was on the edge every play. Hopefully they play a little better this afternoon, I mean seriously.

The weird thing about it to me, is that it's a play that LOOKS like an out.... first instinct is: He's dead to rights. You really have to struggle and talk yourself into the possibility that he may have been safe.
As nonchalant as the ump was about it, it doesn't add up. Usually if a play is that close you get an emphatic gesture as to why the runner is safe....
... you can almost see the thought process, "oh crap, he's toast, when will with this damn game be over? oh wait, you could kinda imagine that he missed him when he swiped.... yeah, let's go with that... peace, I'm outta here... I wonder if Grey's Anatomy DVR'd while I was gone?...
