View Full Version : Has this happened to anyone on eBay...

Was posting a listing for a Bowman Platinum Xfractor that I just got. Instead of taking a photo and going through that trouble, I figured I'd take a stock photo from someone else's listing.
Today I get a message that I 'infringed on copyright material'. This has never happened to me before. I figure a stock photo is just that, and can be used.
Is this the other user that 'reported' me, or eBay? Also, has this happened to anyone else?

Huge no-no in my book.
Don't steal anything from another person's auction...stock photo or not.
How lazy can you be? If taking a picture is "trouble" for you then perhaps eBay isn't your thing...
The other user probably reported the photo, or someone following the two auctions. It's against eBay policy to lift photos from someone else's auction.

If you don't know where it's from, why assume it's free? Even "stock photos" can have copyrights.

I've had people do that to me (steal photos) and I've messaged them. If someone is looking at a bunch of auctions for the same player, ecrd ect and they see 2 of the same photo they aren't going to know who really has the same card they are bidding on. It's lazy and stupid.

I have had people message me and ask to use my photo - as long as my auction has ended, I say yes.
When I get a message from an ebayer that my picture is being used, I message the other person and ask them to take it down. If I don't hear back immediately, I report it.
If it is in the other auction, how is it a stock photo?
Yeah, you were in the wrong this time. Be careful if you do it again because eBay might suspend your account. Good luck.

did you use the multiple listing tool?
people want to see the exact card they're bidding on, not someone else's.
That being said, I thought Ebay made a stupid policy a couple years ago that allowed for people to use "stock" photos from other's listings unless you opted out of it. Did they reverse that at some point?
Ebay actually thought they were making it easier for sellers with that policy but certain categories (cards and memorabilia for one), it was a terrible idea

i keep getting 'spoof' emails from inkfrog about my ebay about while using the multiple listing tool.
check your ebay messages and see if the message is there... if not its prolly not real or email it to spoof@ebay.com and they will tell you
