These guys know how to make the right moves....
Cabrera seems to be a huge pick-up for a contender every single year. Good clubhouse presence, proven winner.
I hate to say it because I can't stand the giants, but another good move most likely, unless they gave up a bigtime prospect which I doubt.

What does it mean to be a proven winner? The Indians aren't a contender? Cabrera is an over the hill player who hasn't been productive for about 2 seasons now. Proven winner is short for nothing left in the tank.

Not saying it was a bad deal for the Tribe. They have IMO the best shortstop in the game right now in A. Cabrera, and a top prospect in Kipnis at 2nd base. No room for Cabrera, I get that.
But a real nice pick-up for the Giants who needed a veteran IF with Tejada, DeRosa and Sanchez on the shelf.

Sounds like we may be giving up Thomas Neal? Not sure how I feel about it, but as of right now, 2nd base is so thin, it probably isn't a bad deal.

Ok, I'll give you that. One of the top two SS's in baseball. But it's quite close, Asdrubal's really good.

The Giants win in this trade for this year but Sabean will be kicking himself for letting Neal go in a few years

Tribe wins this deal. They get Thomas Neal who can consistently hit .300 with 15-20 HR's in the minors. O-cab is washed up, and will cry for playing time.

He fcking sucks... I love this move. He was starting to be a cancer in the clubhouse bitching about his playing time. Well hit better than .200 since May and you might have a point.

Yeah, stocking up on low production past their prime infielders. Tejada, Keppinger & Cabrera ha ha. The reality is Cabrera probably should have been DFA'd by the Indians so props to them for being able to get something for him.

I thought about this a lot last night, and I think I like the deal. Neal had been in the system for 6 years and while he has a pretty good average, he strikes out a lot and walks about half as much as he strikes out. Also, at short right now, the Giants have (Fontenot, Crawford) two guys who barely hit .200.
Keppinger is hitting almost .300 and plays a good second base.
I like both deals really since they got Kepp for next to nothing.
