View Full Version : It's just annoying that people like Cpr1981 can't complete simple deals or answer PMs

I could care less about the 12 bucks for some cards. They were frankly a great deal. It's when people can't reply to 2 PMs and even attempt a lame excuse that it gets annoying. He had time enough to post "I'll take them!"
More people should use iTrader honestly to alert others. I see Cpr1981 has a few other threads going with a smattering of problems.
He's got my negative vote,

I said I'd take them and forgot to pay for them...The first PM was at 8:20 that night and the second PM was sent on the 21st @ 10:38 at night.
Now for my "lame excuse" ...I have an eight week old child who takes up most of my time and is far more important than sending you $12 bucks at 10:48 at night. I get on here when I can and respond when I can, I am always "online" because of the site being signed in on my phone.
Did I forget? Yes
Would I have paid for them? Obviously yes because I said I would
Do I have any other negative feedback on her? eBay? No
Is smattering a big word meaning a SMALL AMOUNT OF SOMETHING? Yes, meaning I rarely have problems with people (thanks for pointing that out) :)!

So the second attempt to contact you was 10 days ago?
I know first hand how kids can take up a lot of time, but you can't expect people to wait that long for money or communication. Good luck to you both.

when you sell a card, do you contact the person again buying the card if they do not pay for it 10 days later?
If i have not received payment that day and the person has not told why then I would carry on. I am very confused on this and then Vinny you gave him a negative when you did not PM him again til 10 days later about a card he said he would buy. HUH?

If i have not received payment that day
Then that card is NOT sold & would be up for sale to someone else who will pay when they say they'll take it unless other arrangements have been made. Plain & simple!!

The 2nd pm was sent by the seller 10 days ago and went unanswered. The seller then saw the buyer making deals with others. The seller is annoyed, and leaves a negative.
At least thats what I gathered from the OP and the second post?

sold a card- pm sent 7/11 1st pm
payment not received - pm sent 7/21 2nd pm
*second pm should have been sent 7/12 or sooner to remind person to buy/pay for card or i would be selling it else where

I see what your saying. That is a large gap between pms. I think the OP was just trying to be a gentleman, and give the buyer ample time to pay.

But shouldn't that be agreed upon when the deal is struck? Like this guy needed a card of mine for a set but told me he couldn't pay right then, I told him it was PC so he could just PM me when he had the funds & he'd pay & I'd ship next day. I think the key to less confusion is communication or at least it is to me.

If paying at a later date, then yes it should be agreed upon. If no agreement is discussed, than I would say payment is expected right away.

i agree and that was my point. it is poor communication on both ends. but the fact vinnyh hit him with a negative on a deal that never happened well .

Don't make statements on deals that you can't handle in a normal amount of time. Or at least, ask for an extension to get it together. Silence is not golden when communicating is our main process.

If people don't use iTrader to communicate the deals gone bad, how will that help anyone? He made a deal with his statement "I'll take them" and then never followed through. Common courtesy would have had him communicate some problem in leaving the seller in limbo for 10 days.
Disregarding the first PM didn't help.

Then I guess there's no honor in what anyone says. How about I tell you I'll buy all your stuff someday, you PM your info, then I disappear?
Maybe I should change my signature to "I'm old enough to remember when a handshake meant something"

I don't believe money being sent constitutes the deal being done. If someone posts "i'll take them" and paypal information is sent that is the agreement on the deal. That's just me though and I venture to say that more than one person will agree with me that once paypal information is sent the deal is agreed upon and done.

Besides a verbal contract that was created. Beyond this being a binding transaction it is just bad form to string somebody out for a week and a half.
Maybe next time CPR will communicate a whole lot better.

Ok I'll respond one more time regarding this issue then lay it to rest (in my eyes)
I have always told people to be patient with me for I don't live for responding to messages as soon as they're posted on threads and it may take me a day or two to respond to a pm...I forgot about the deal with the OP then really forgot about it from day 1 to day 10. I should have paid him when I said I'll take em because I wanted em and felt it was a good deal. Now, with all of that said if I gave negative feedback to everyone who said they wanted a card or didn't respond to a message I would have probably 10-20 people pissed at me rather than the few I've currently have.
Young or old...try not to judge so quickly or assume you're the only person/thing that's pressing at the time.

In order to be valid, the parties to a contract must exchange something of value.

Here is your confirmation sir. I agree with this statement. if a man makes a deal whether internet, phone, text, handshake, planet hopping or whatever if you make a deal you make a deal.
When a man makes a deal he agrees not only to what he is trading/buying, but he agrees to put his integrity on the line every time he does so. If the man does not care about his integrity, then he does what he wants.
Im not saying CPR is a bad guy, I have dealt with him before and all went well. Im simply saying if a deal is agreed to then it is agreed to. It is his integrity & responsibility at that pint as the buyer to communicate to the seller, and no matter deal or not follow through. If not following through then im sure a simple PM explaining why or "give me a few days" in Vinny's case would have been more then sufficient.
Long winded sorry but warranted in this case. Only thing is I would have given a neutral and not a negative. Im out.

Of course no value was exchanged because one of the parties reneged on a contract.
This is one of the dumbest retorts I have seen in a long time. With it being Summer in Blowout Kiddie Land that is really saying something.

What ever happened to the person's word being the most valuable thing they possess ? All that legal mumbo jumbo is just to put food on some lawyers table. Maybe I'm just old school but if someone gives me their word or shakes hands on something, I still believe that's the same as a written contract.
Not taking sides just saying too many people these days seem to have plenty of time to make deals, list their wares for sale etc. but suddenly are strapped for time when it's their turn to pay up or ship out. Obviously it's just cardboard or some cash but if you have time to make a deal, make sure you have time to follow through to completion or at the very least notify the op you're a little behind. It's just common courtesy.

Please forgive my intrusion into this particular subforum, but there actually was value exchanged and a bargain agreed upon. Though neither money nor cards changed hands, there was an agreement between the parties regarding particular cards and a particular sum of money. The seller agreed to forbear selling / donating / etc. his cards to any other party or circumstance (thereby incurring an opportunity cost, and actual value) in exchange for the agreed upon bargain.
Should any of this actually matter? In my humble opinion, no. I am in agreement with the handshake / gentleman's agreement / word of honor posters, and feel this serves the best interests and zeitgeist of the card collecting community far better than any forays into real contract law. And yes, I do have a J.D. and am bar certified in my home state.

What I dont understand is that when someone says "I'll take it". why cant they go straight to paypal right after that and pay the seller. It takes no more than 2 minutes. If you aint got funds in your paypal then you shouldnt be shopping around.

Just to reiterate...I said I'd take the card then got side-tracked. The $12 wasn't the issue, a newborn baby was...I'd still buy the card from the OP I just didn't respond in a timely manner to his posts.
I never said "I'll take it" wasn't a binding agreement I just don't thunk negative feedback was the correct path to take.
