I meant to type up the whole story but didn't get a chance too, but I need some advice.

Here's the jist of it...a guy from Canada outright bought my lot of 13 Obama comics Sunday night for my "crazy" bin of $1300:eek:

I had to change the auction so he could make an offer, I didn't realize he was just going to hit the bin. However, then he said he has to get verified and that Paypal says the wait is 3-5 days. I figured, ok, these probably aren't really sold then.

Anyways, tonight I just got the full Paypal amount. I'm pretty surprised. However, in the payment email it says:

Address status: Unconfirmed
Important note: ..........has provided an unconfirmed address. If you are planning on shipping items to....... check the transaction details page of this payment to find out whether you will be covered by the PayPal Seller Protection Policy.

and (The sender of this payment is Non-U.S. - Verified)

Paypal displays the Ok To Ship checkmark as long as I follow their rules. That's pretty standard for International stuff right?

I plan to use USPS Express and full insurance. I had already told the guy I will declare the full amount (I may do like half just to be cool and insure only half at my own "risk" even though it'd still surpass what I paid for the comics). Anyways, he just understood it was a kick in the junk but didn't raise a fuss like some people do.

So, you guys think I am good to go you then? Sorry if I'm rambling...just woke up...I think finding out the Mayo fb checklist has made me ill:mad:

I wouldn't trust it. I don't think anyone would pay that much for the Obama comics at that price and then have the issue with Paypal unless they were planning on ripping you off.

Well, I'm trying to determine how I could get ripped off if I have tracking, insurance, etc. Is there any way to prevent chargebacks?

I don't think so if you send to an unverified address.

Well, it's "non-Us verified" The Paypal note says "ok to ship" and I had in my auction that I wasn't allowing returns. Plus, when somebody uses bin aren't you sort of obligated to sell to them?

Your more obligated to sell then your not, but you can also have him verify his address. Are we talking someone with little feedback? I personally would figure what you have into the comics and just declare that (or if you sold them for 1300, figur 130 and maybe forget the zero). You can insure for the full amount without declaring it if I'm not mistaken (problem is if you declare a high value..those at customs are more apt to look at whats inside).

I've seen too many paypal horror stories and even though I've never been dinged for a significant amount I've taken steps to make sure paypal will never get me for a big amount.

I opened a second bank account, the first one is used only for recieving paypal funds and I immediately move them to bank account #2 keeping the bare minimum in #1.

I also switched the visa I use for paypal to a pre-paid Visa, adding money as needed for ebay fees, or if I need to buy something on ebay.

If someone ever tries a chargeback on me for a pricey item I won't give up 1 dime, even if it means I lose my ebay and or paypal accounts, which I don't think is much of a loss. Worst case scenario I can always borrow my brothers accounts, he barely uses them.

I had been thinking about setting my stuff up like that as well. You can use a prepaid credit card? Wouldn't you be unverified though?

I called Paypal which didn't make me feel any better. They couldn't even tell me what the funding source was if it was a bank account or a credit card. Basically, all somebody would have to do is file an "item not as described" and I get zero.

Paypal will get there money.. There is no way around it the only thing you are doing by having it set up as described above is prolonging the process. They have all the info they need to take you to court/sue you for Fraud and send you to collection and screw up your credit.

Very hard to track things into Canada!! I sell things there all the time. With a unconfirmed address I would not send anything to this guy until he gets a paypal/ebay confirmed address. No matter what it says about "its okay to send" Bottom line he can say he never got it and take the money back, just because you track it and it says delivered doesn't mean it was delivered to him with an inconfirmed address. I wouldn't do it.

Well, wouldn't I be covered since that address on his account is where Paypal is telling me is ok to send there? This would be with signature confirmation.

A lot of misinformation being tossed around here...

Paypal changed their rules a few months ago and said that you can still be covered by the seller protection policy if shipping to a non-confirmed address.

As for the fear with the guy "overpaying" for the comics, perhaps no one else selling a lot offered shipping to Canada.

What is the buyer's feedback record?

Member since Nov 06, only 22 fb but 100%, last is from Feb 08. Judging by seller names he bought from he did buy other geek stuff, lol.

Well, I didn't expect him to buy the item full price, but obviously he'll do nicely if he has them graded.
