I guess the Padres cooled on Garrett Olson, otherwise he was part of the package for Peavy. I just hope they hang onto Josh Vitters!!!! Either way, I still worry about the team chemistry of the Cubs.

I second the Vitters. From what I read yesterday they don't want to make any big changes to the payroll until after the sale to the Ricketts family is finalized and Peavy still has a sizable contract.

Bad trade for us I think.

You are giving away a 5th starter or possibly a 4th starter and a starting shortstop or someone in the coming years who will start for a middle reliver or a new Bobby Howry. What good did that do? I would have rather taken a young pitcher who will help in the long run opposed to Heilman who is what, mid 30s?

I am unhappy with this one :(

I agree.. I mean the two guys that the cubs give up aren't slouches here.. they were pretty good! Olson shut down the yanks in a game or two last year too. I am not sold on Heilman, never was....

Actually Heilman is 29 and I had him pegged as a #2 starter. The worry is that Willie Randolph learned how to handle pitchers from Joe Torre, who basically destroyed Scott Proctor. Randolph did the same to Heilman, and now he's going to the team that has destroyed more pitchers than anyone.

I agree with the above on Proctor...this is the reason they traded him away i think!

I was at the game where Heilman tossed a complete game 1 hitter against Florida. Granted this was in April of 2005 but damn he looked good. He struck out 7 and threw 107 pitches. Then someone decided to put him in the Pen and that was that.

That Marlin team had Pierre, Castillo, Cabrera, Delgado, Lowell and LoDuca who was killing the ball early that year.

Sorry to disagree with you but getting rid of Cedeno was long overdue. He always had his head up his a$$. His defense sucked. Always threw the ball to the wrong base. Didn't back up anybody. I've seen lots of little leagers with better fundamentals than him. Good to see another one of Dusty's boy go!!

He must have been crying when Joe Torre was signed as Dodgers manager... does this MFer want to kill me?

He really wasnt the greatest defensive player of all time or anything but what I liked about him is he was always good about getting on base in tight situations and always seemed to have a good attitude. Plus he always high fived the guys that actually played whenever they did anything good :p

Its not soo much how good the players are, but I like them chemistry wise. Sure Cedeno had his bed days with Lou and on the field, but still I liked him.

When he broke his wrist he was signing autos with his broken wrist still in the cast. He actually talked to me for a while bout it so it was cool...always remember those 1 on 1 with player moments you have at games :):)!
