Buyer buys a bobble from me for $117.50 + shipping. In the description, I specify no box in big letters.
After sniping and winning at the end, he emails saying he wants me to cancel the auction because he didn't notice it had no box and he doesn't want it.
What would you do?

Offer it to the next high bidder.
There is nothing you can do. Ebay/PayPal will let him return it for a full refund.

If the seller had a no returns policy, do they still do this?

If they file a claim pretty sure the buyer basically always gets their way

That policy means nothing with PayPal. You can either go through the hassle of shipping it to them and shipping it back and all that garbage, or just nip it now.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother making him purchase it, most likely he'll say it arrived damaged or give some BS story. I'm pretty sure there's an option to cancel the bid to refund the final value fees, then you should be able to give a second chance offer to the next person. And tell the idiot to save his $117.50 for reading lessons.

Yes, even with a no return policy, if the buyer makes a bogus claim, even if he has a history of leaving negative feedbacks to sellers (I mean 20-40 over the past year), you still have to refund him including shipping or ebay bangs you with bad marks. Some buyers can really game this system unfortunately. I think this guy just made a mistake, but it was a stupid one.

Just send him a "nice" message about reading the dam description before bidding, and move on to the next highest bidder with a second chance offer...not go through the hassle with this guy

He did send me an apologetic email after I emailed him "you're welcome." So at least that's something. The worst part, the box it came with was plain white with no markings.
