Pack Run - I Hate When I Do This...

My LCS owner didn't have Finest Football or Topps Chrome Baseball in just yet, but I HAD to rip something, so I started ripping away at random packs.

$120 or so later, this is all I came up with:

Scared the crap out of me how much I burned in just a few minutes.

i used to do random samplings as well...if my LCS doesnt have a sealed box of what i want, i just attack whats left of a random box and hope for the best.

he usually keeps 06 07 bowman-draft-chrome around so ill go for that if nothing else can be had sealed

could be worse....i dropped like $90 one time on four or five packs of like four or five different sets and missed everything....no autos, no nothing, just some base, and a refractor or javy vazquez - and the ensuing vomit.

I know there's no chance of them being searched that's not my issue. It's just that in reality I didn't want to open Platinum OR Allen & Ginter OR Topps but I did because those were the newest packs that were there.

Yeah I havn't bought packs since then, it was prabably a month ago. I did the same thing a while ago with 2010 Contenders Football. Like 17 packs and only a Sean Lee Auto LOL.

yup if i by packs i try to never do more then 20 bucks worth..

Haha, reminds me of my younger days. My brother and I would always get burned by open boxes and random packs. We eventually learned to go after a specific product or stop after a few packs. Its all part of the fun of the hobby though, as long as we dont get burned too bad.

I've seen worse first-hand :(. It's taken me years to use some self-restraint...probably mostly because of the wife, kid and mortgage (all new things in the last 5 years). Now, if the product I want isn't there or is priced significantly higher than I was originally hoping, I just walk away to save my cash for another day.

The worst thing you can do is dump your cash on a product you really weren't eyeing, knowing full well you have a 99% chance of being disappointed if you bust it, yet you buy it anyways because you "got the itch" and HAVE to bust something :p.

Not to mention when you don't pull something early, common sense says to stop, but the gambler in your head says "you'll regret it if you don't open the rest of those packs and something good comes out".

and of course if you don't stop, you get a horrible hit, but if you do stop, the next guy in pulls a mega auto...
