neither of the two card shops locally have Update yet, target and wally world dont either.

one of the shops is having a hard time getting jumbos but should have a case tomorrow, the other is expecting theirs tomorrow too. (there is another shop a little farther away that has jumbos for $120.)

seems like we're always 2-3 days behind and neither of the shops I prefer can ever tell me price until they get the cards in hand.

What a rip, he is basically doubling the price he pays for the box. Greed is a sin.

Im not seeing how that is greedy.

...because he's charging way more than any other LCS, probably because he wants more $$$? Seems a bit more like greed than not greed to me.

I'll hold final judgement until I see how much the other two places are charging. I'd guess they'll come in around $110.

Just wondering for those of you who busted 9 or 18 box cases what has your return been on the cases? You can give dollar or percentage wise. I have 2 9 box cases on the way and can't decide what to do? Been some big hits but unless you hit a legend knob, barrell, or cut I'm not sure the break justifies????

A couple of things. First of all, cost is around $75ish I believe. Maybe a dollar or two cheaper. Wholesale is around $80 for a box.

Next, I realize the card market is nothing like regular retail, but doubling your money is no crime in any other business, except this one.

Furniture is marked up 600% sometimes and don't get me started on diamonds.

But of course this is a volatile market and we have ebay too. When I ran a small store back in the early 90s, I didn't sell too many boxes. Why not? Well, the $3 per box I would make on a $30-$60 investment was a joke and I couldn't tie up my money that way.

So I do understand that $120 is way high in current market conditions, but how can someone pay their bills buying a box for $80-$85 and selling it for $90-$95?

It's a no-win situation that has led to the closing of most card shops. Just like I think dishonest ebay buyers will one day hurt the ebay card sellers enough that many will stop selling.

ok, so LCS1 is $130 jumbo/$80 regular; LCS2 is $126 jumbo/$76 regular.

from a 'hits' standpoint, the jumbo is better but I'm thinking from an inserts standpoint, regular usually have 2 inserts plus a toppstown so 72 inserts plus toppstown vs 70 with jumbo.

thinking maybe 2 boxes of regular instead of one jumbo.

get them on eBay or blowout if you can wait they will be much much cheaper, you're paying $40+ more than you should for jumbos and $25-35+ more than you should for regular

compared to BO, the cheapest jumbo is $23 more, the most expensive is $33 more. the regular boxes are $19 and $23 more.

and yes, I've considered buying from BO and having them shipped to work.

still have to decide between jumbos and regular boxes.
