Looking at the prices of the RPAs out there, do you believe the values will jump once the lockout is over? Are all these cards, and other rookie cards suffering from the "BLAKE" effect? (out of sight...forgotten about...out of mind?) I just remember how there was NO interest in football this year until the lockout ended...then the market boomed.

I'm just wondering...because I noticed the last case of NT just sold on here..and now they're out of stock. Hmmm...I wonder who could have bought it? :p;):)!:devil: lol

the market will definitely improve once the lock out ends. if you have the cash to buy, now is the time.

be prepared to hold for quite a while.... but yeah, the cards will eventually be worth way more.

that being said...I'm thinking there probably aren't a lot of cases of NT left out on the market. Would it be a smart idea to sit on the case until the lockout ends? Will the value of a case go up? I figure it can't hurt...and if it doesn't...then I crack the case then when the values of the players are higher....

everything is absolutely going to go up when they start playing again, but who knows when that will be, basketball is alot different than football, and you got a way better rookie class coming for 2011, that's a tough risk, most people are going to move on to the new rookie class, last years rookies were kinda lack luster......national treasures dropped at a very bad time this year, the demand that it was supposed to meet was banged up by the lockout.

you got alot of great rookies that are going to overshadow last years class when the new stuff drops...... jimmer, kyrie, derrick williams, kemba walker......

I wouldn't invest in it personally, it's going to be a bad year for basketball.

The RPA Prices are already way too high IMO - I mean look at Exquisite Patch Auto sales from the past 6 years; Commons sell for under $10 mostly and even semi-stars might only yield like $25-$50 ... Compared to NT, commons are bringing $30+ and Semi-guys could bring $100+ - I think it's a bit ridiculous to be honest.

For example - I'm a fan of Dominique Jones who played like 75 total minutes this past season and can't pick up his RAP because it's so overpriced ($35 +/-)

I never thought I'd hear the day when somebody would say $35 for an NT RPA is overpriced.

(but then again...I have Demarre Carroll RPA...so I can understand....) hahaha

Everyone's making good points. However, if a player steps up and turns into a true baller, whether it be now or later, his rpa and all other cards/autos will go up in price like wild fire and the top product eg. Nat treasures boxes n cases will rise in price. End of the day, this yrs NT and its price will be based on J Wall and his potential production and improvement and god willing transformation into D Rose status. Saying all that, lets go Landry Fields! lol

I will say, we have all seen and heard that many cases have been either really loaded or truly aweful (i unfortunetely speak from experience) and that is a tough pill to swallow and a big risk to take for around $1500+ a case. Btw, there are still a bunhc of great cards that have not surfaced and the boards haven't reported any a while now... Anyone heard or seen the durant or rose 1/1 auto logoman or the durant/westbrook 1/1 dual logoman. k malone, t duncan or dirk 1/1...Also, i've noticed noooone has heard or seen any of the J Wall rpa # 2 of 5, 25 or 99 being pulled AND i'l include his 1/1 tru logoman auto...Well, unless you wana believe the rumors, but talk is cheap and when I see the card, i'l believe it...

it seems like people are losing interest... some of the RPA's are going down based from what ive seen recently

When Jones' regular auto's sell for $1-$3 + shipping, $35 is overpriced ... And I don't have a Big Budget :)

I almost think the exact opposite haha

I think that now, currently, it is a pricey time to buy singles (as a whole).

Without any new or upcoming products, nobody is breaking boxes/cases at all really. Those box breakers are using their money on singles.

Once the season starts, and new products are introduced again, those will be hot, but the stuff thats dead now will remain dead or drop further.

I've had some great sales recently, and I think it's a direct effect of this.

For that reason, I just listed a bunch of high-end cards including Durant rookie autos. Season gives way for injury, players not performing, etc. Holding on to cards is only good if you get them VERY cheap in first place, and only if they have room to grow. With the current card market, there isnt much room for growth on anything IMO.

Interesting - That's a simple point, but I didn't even think of that. It makes sense ...

Yes some of the exquisite rpas are cheeper but they were also numbered to 225 formost draft classes. This years NT was only to 99 or less for the silvers. Even adding all the parallels together there are les than the base rpas from most years of exquisite.
