i dont get why the /99 is considered the 'true rc' and goes for more even tho the /87 is more rare? same auto. same nice patch. i dont get it. weird. anyways.. i would do the same too. hit the BIN and wait for him to heat up again.

This is just Beckett manipulating the marketplace. They have convinced everyone that a parallel or an insert can't be a rookie card.

IMO a rookie card is any card of a player made in the first year licensed cards are made of him. I collect accordingly.

A good example of this is that #84 Crosby all time greats card. Its an insert, but they came 1 in every 6 packs in MVP and they were harder to get in the other products, so you are talking 1 Crosby in every 450 packs.

I'd like to see another rookie year Crosby card that came out 1 in every 450 packs be worth $6-10. It won't happen.

Since I'm ranting, the Ultra Crosby rookie is 1:21 boxes, you usually got 2 Crosby YGs in a case of Upper Deck 1. Why is the Ultra rookie only $125? I know some of it has to do for the following of Upper Deck vs. the following of Ultra, but seriously, a $250 gap for the following of one set.

I'm buying these up when I can get them cheap, I can't see these staying low for long.

That card has lost some of it's value since last season and Crosby seems a little cold so without a doubt that is about it's true value for now. When Crosby heats up and stays there the card will move back up. I'm looking at buying one and the starting price is $4995.00 and appears to be a very strong BGS 9.5 or a little weak BGS 10 as soon as we can meet somewhere in the middle I will own it. I would consider the steal of a deal if I lived close enough to see it. :)

andrew13 have you checked the number of this card? All of the other rainbow cards that I have seen ?/87 can be read very clearly I just wonder why this one is out of focus? To me the first 2 numbers looked smuged and I can not tell what they are. I had a couple of other people look at it and they came up with a possible 15. What do you think the numbers are?

I don't know much about hockey but do you think that this card and other high end Crosby cards will go back up in price. I noticed that there are a lot of players that have started out of the gate really hot making Sid look a little cold? :)
