I guess that that MLB is still paying the players' salaries? I know the Dodgers were bankrupt.

They cut their payroll for this coming year and the deal is back loaded. They are actually going to save money this coming year since Kemp would have been in line for a huge raise through arbitration. I think it's a good move. More of a "Don't hate me" deal my McCourt to the fans that makes the team more appealing to potential buyers.

Glad to finally see the Dodgers sign a great player long term. Sure there are ifs but I have liked Kemp for some years now and always hoped they would make him the face of the franchise.

I think it's more the owners are broke than the team is broke. I could be wrong though.
