Thanks for the heads up! When I first saw these glossy sets I thought it was kind of stupid, but I have already gotten 2 of them. One I opened to sell team lots and have made some good money, one I was planning on keeping. Now with this deal I just got one more. Not sure if I will break another one open to sell or wait until they are all gone and sell the complete sealed set.

thanks for the heads up, I actually was going to order 1 and the chance at number 1 with the free shipping made it a no brainer. I will post what number I get.

Not sure why having set #1 would matter. You would have to break up a factory set to know.
And I guess they couldn't sell 999 of them without promotions. Sad if you ask me.

You can't know you have set #1 unless you break the seal and look, right?

The number set you get is on a sticker on the outside of the box so you don't have to break it open. I have purchased 2 already with one more one the way (come on #1! :D). The one I opened was 790/999 and the sealed one is 284/99

I'd bust it open and sell them. Since they're exclusive to the factory sealed set, you could probably make money selling team lots to people who don't want to spend $100 on the whole set.
Oh, and another reason to bust would be to see the picture on that Navy Seals card. ;)

You forgot option 3 in your poll.
3- Bust the set, and trade lemur the Braves from it.

I am a collector. It would add to the uniqueness of the set to be able to say I have #1. I already intended to buy 1, however the free shipping (saved me $10) and the guarentee that someone over the weekend will get number 1 made it a little more tempting to go ahead and do the purchase instead of waiting.

I think keep set one sealed and getting it graded. If I got set 999 I would open that one set 1 i think is more importante
