I just pulled a 2011 BDPP George Springer Purple Ref Auto #/10 and was wondering what a fair selling price may be? There hasn't been a purple ref end yet. I know he won't be as high as the Bauer or Bubba but he is pretty damn good so...

grade it, save it for spring(er) training, see how he does and go from there.

My guess is the $250-$300 range. Coming into the 2011 season he was considered the #3 Overall talent behind only Rendon and Cole. He had a terrible start to the NCAA season but was probably the best position player in the country over the second half of the season. The Astros Hi A and AA affiliates in the CAL League and Texas League are pretty good hitters' parks, so I could see him putting up huge numbers and making it to Houston, another hitters' park by 2013. If you can afford to hold onto it, I would recommend doing so.

He still has issues that need to be resolved. He has a backside collapse in his swing which basically gives his swing an upwardness to it which means he's hitting much more pop ups instead of line drives. He also lacks a 2 strike approach. Now, I don't think the Astros take him where they did without believing that they can fix those problems. I would recommend holding if you can.

Agreed. If he shows any life in the minors, he could earn a fast trip to the majors being part of the Astros organization.

Needed the cash, put it up at $300 and it sold. Well it appears that way. Has yet to pay. I am not very fond of people that BIN but do not pay right away. I have a hard time investing long term into non-Braves prospects.

There a listing option to force buy-it-now buyers to pay right away. Or they aren't allowed to buy.
I use that, I feel like buy it now should imply pay it now also. I'm glad that option exists.
Check box right under the selection to allow paypal as payment.

I do not mind giving buyers a little time to pay. I know from time to time I do not pay right away. I do always ask before doing that though.

Nice sale. You can probably use the proceeds to pick up some nice Julio Teheran's very cheap in comparisons to his peak prices while the prospect market is flooded right now. However, if Springer becomes a 30-30 guy in his first year or two, you might regret the sale.

I think it would have easily sold for $400+ on BIN

If they are not Braves prospects, I generally sell them because there is a lot more that flop then make it. I do regret some moves but I think in this hobby you have to take what you can get when you can unless you collect them. Being the day of the release I think peak value is now unless he becomes something plus the Houston Astros are a ways off from a hobby hot bed.

That is usually my thinking with prospects unless they are future Braves
