This is the first in a long list of players who will eventually be out for the season due to a concussion.

Likely an end to a Hall of Fame career.

While their chances would be a whole lot better with him, this team can still win it all without Pronger. As long as Giroux comes back and they don't lose anyone else from the D, I think this team will do very well come playoff time. Homer has done a great job putting this team together. I expect him to use the cap space now freed up to go out and get another solid veteran for the blueline. He already has a great mix in the locker room and plenty of leadership which was lacking the past few years. If Schenn ever stays healthy and contributes like many predicted he would, look out. They're already the top scoring team in the league without him.

So does this mean Philly gets out of one of the first illegal contracts the NHL never fined the team for?

Pronger is a punk, but a heck of a player. I hate to see any quality player go down with a concussion.
