I guess they need some offense since they lost Pujols. Looks like he got a 2 year deal for $26 million with full no trade clause.

I was hoping the Mariners could have snatched him up. Not a bad deal at that price. If he stinks, so what, the contract is only two years.

As a Cards fan, I can't say that I'm thrilled with this signing.

You'd think he'd be a better fit for an AL team considering how much trouble he's had with his knee. That way he could DH every so often instead of always having to play outfield. Oh well, will be interesting to see if he stays healthy and can produce. If he doesn't produce as expected they are going to have to dump him and be on the hook for his salary since they won't be able to trade him. I certainly don't think a player like him is worthy of no trade protection at this point.

I agree, butttttttttt, Craig is injured, so should be some nice offense in craig's place!

Beltran will spend more time playing for defending WS Champs without are having partaken in it himself! Haha.

Yeah, me too, he really starting heating up at the end of the season. However, the Giants have a limited payroll, especially since they decided to keep Cainer and Timmy.

More like since they decided to keep Aubrey Huff, and pay Aaron Rowand. LOL. You act as if it were some sort of hard thought decision to keep Lincecum & Cain.

That's a nice signing for the Cards. A good veteran bat to put in right field. And it works out perfectly (Beltran in RF and Berkman at 1B).

Its Zito and Rowand that are raping their payroll, not timmy and cain.

Ha ha, can't forget about Barry Zito who gets paid $19 Million this year! Aubrey Huff is getting $10 Million. Nice work Brian Sabean!

As a Cardinals fan, I was hoping this wouldnt happen. I really think Craig could be a solid every-day guy once healthy, and will the 1-2 months of Beltran really be better than using a stop-gap guy until Craig comes back?

I forget where I saw it but someone posted (maybe on twitter) the other day that Craig reminded them of Brian Giles, who didn't really start playing full-time until a similar age. Thought it was an interesting comparison.

Of course, he could hit .300 and there are far worse problems to have than your favorite team signing an all-star!

Berkman got comeback player of the year. Lets hope Beltran can have a really good year this up coming season, and produce the same outcome
