Not like he reads this but hey what the hell....

I am sure there is some collective bargaining agreement now where these things could never happen anyway.

Some changes I would make if I were commissioner

Winning conference in the pro bowl should have home field advantage in the Super Bowl
Change the OT rules. Both teams should have the ball at least once
Super Bowls should be played in the conference winners stadium
Pro Bowl should be in the middle of the season after all the byes are over.
This will extend the season from 16 games to 18 games
Get rid of the two pre season games

If a player goes on IR, he should be able to come back within a certain time frame

Immediately release all players and have fans draft the players into their favorite team each new season!!!

Winning conference in the pro bowl should have home field advantage in the Super Bowl --- doesn't work in baseball, definitely won't work in NFL

Super Bowls should be played in the conference winners stadium --- who is going to pay $$$$ to sit in Lambeau when it's 35 below??? (besides me of course)

Pro Bowl should be in the middle of the season after all the byes are over. -- too great a risk of injury for a game that doesn't count

This will extend the season from 16 games to 18 games -- don't know why we need an 18 game season, 16 is just enough to leave everyone wanting more

Get rid of the two pre season games -- how, who, when will new talent be evaluated??

If a player goes on IR, he should be able to come back within a certain time frame -- so basically you want a roster expansion? I agree with a larger roster

Plenty of people would pay top dollar to sit in Green Bay to watch a Super Bowl

You would need to make the pro bowl mean something somehow

Pre Season games are where the majority of injuries occur. Getting rid of them helps that issue.

Maybe not an 18 game season but a longer season in general. Almost like having 2 byes within the season. The second bye would help teams recharge. Say one in the first 9 weeks and one in the second 9 weeks.

Week 4 and say Week 12

No practice squad, larger rosters where everyone including practice squad is active and suited up. 65 man rosters and lower minimum pay by $20k to help out teams salaries

Why does the pro bowl need to mean something? Most people who go to the Super Bowl don't even care who wins, they just have money. It stinks, but not everyone can shell out 5 grand plus to attending a game of their favorite team. The Super Bowl is a great advertising day, the game is almost an after thought to many. Pro Bowl doesn't need to mean anything. I just think, get rid of the game, make it a skills challenge.

I'd make it mandatory that the Jets and Giants play each year....and the winning team gets the naming rights for the stadium for the year.

This game would occur in the regular season....not preseason.

Well, they do in the pre season and the Giants always win that also lol

So, you want a subway series scenario.....The games should be played on neutral field though.....Yankee stadium perhaps

I think the Superbowl should be played on neutral grounds for both sides and should be rotated through each NFL stadium respectively (give each city an opportunity to host) or players vote on which stadium they would like to play in other than their own.

Pro bowl should go back to the week after Super Bowl with a bigger prize for the winning team.

Based solely only on marketing terms the pre season games should be played over seas but limited to one overseas game per team ( not all games played over seas ).

During the regular season there are no over seas games ( unless played in Hawaii LOL ).

OT rules must be changed from sudden death to something more similar to NCAA rules. In my opinion it should go to an extra quarter of football or at least 7 1/2 mins.

Thursday games will now be shown on basic cable like all the other games. Also you can now choose what games you want to watch rather than what the cable companies tell you based on the time slots.

I forgot to mention I would invest in new technology for the helmets. It seems even thou the rules help to ensure player safety they still get hurt. Investing in better technology for helmets I think is a good call.

Screen and retrain all referees. In the beginning of this year I thought it was the worst officiating I have seen ever.

Move the Pro Bowl back to being after the Super Bowl so that all the stars the fans want to see can play.

New officiating and lessen the Roughing the Passer calls. Some of those are just insane.

The big thing? A point system for Personal Foul/Late Hit/Unsportsmanlike Conduct, like with a drivers license. After so many points (fouls), a suspension is issued. Points taken away for no personal fouls. That way, there's a definite outline. :)!

Make the superbowl on Saturday! It' s a win win for everyone.

1. less missed days of work, less calling in sick by people like me on Monday.
2. Would draw even more casual fans to watch the game who can stay up later on saturday and not worry about missing work.
3. More parties acoss the country becuase people won't have to worry about cleanup because they can blow it off until Sunday.
4. More beer, food sold, sports bars generate more sales.

Total no brainer......It would proably draw this country out the recession!!!!!!:D:D:D:D

-The Super Bowl should rotate between 4 cities year to year (Miami, New Orleans, Glendale, & L.A). You'd pretty much always have nice weather for the game and it would usually be a "neutral site".

-Go back to having the draft on Saturday & Sunday (rounds 1-3 on Sat, 4-7 on Sun).

-Get rid of the franchise tag.

-Lift the blackout rule.

Allow defenders to hit again.
NCAA overtime rules.
Allow TD celebrations.
Encourage intimidation.
Expand rosters.
Base salaries across the board with incentives based on performance.

Get rid of all the illegal hit penalties. It's football for goodness sakes. Players know the risks involved when playing the sport. It's football, it's supposed to be a tough guy sport.

I am sure they will probably be a few that disagree with me, and that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Don't they pretty much do that anyway? It seems to deviat from those cities only when a new stadium opens, i.e. The House that Manning Built this year, JerryWorld last year, NJ Stadium in 2014. The Super Bowl adds billions to the host city's economy and each city should get to have the excitement of hosting a SB. I totally agree with all of you other suggestions though.

Some changes I would make:

Change the defensive pass-interference penalties from spot of foul to 15-yards from line of scrimmage.
Make all NFL games available via pay-per-view on all cable systems
Expand rosters to 65
Allow flexibility with IR, levels of 4 and 8 weeks, and season ending.
Move the trade deadline from week 6 to week 12
Allow both teams equal possessions in OT.

I second all these... good ideas!

I would also change many of the defensive penalties away from automatic first downs. It is #@#@#@#@ that teams with a 3rd and 25 can get an automatic first down for illegal hands to the face... really? In fact, all of the automatic first down penalties should be removed. Yardage and replay of down is enough.

Go back to real football and allow defenders to hit. Mark my words, the NFL will be the equivalent of a 2 hand touch game in less than 5 years.

As already stated above:
*More flexibilty with the "IR" status.
*1 possession each, at least, in OT. Then, next to score wins.
*Get rid of panini's nfl trading card license.
*.. and a bunch more already stated above.

I would have Cheerleaders for all teams even if they are cold and have hard nipples while cheering. I would make the game how it used to be with the hitting and how players can hit. I would make certain penalties reviewable but not all of them. Id do more but cant think of it now

YES. Him and David Stern can go live life after ruining 2 different sports.

I agree with Madbacker (go figure), The way Goodell has tweaked the rules (on contact) has exemplified the pussification of America. Quarterbacks are football players too and should not have rules to "protect" them. Too many bullsh!t fines and rules. If someone does not get prosecuted by the law, then they shouldnt be punished by the NFL (just like any other job)

and Ed Hochuli is allowed to tackle whoever he wants once a game, just to show his dominance.

No it won't. There has to be penalties for roughing the passer/helmet to helmet. You do know the nfl is getting sued by former players cuz there weren't strong enough penalties and research from big hits that can cause concussions. What they need to do, is have a replay on those type of hits from the press box to let the refs know if they should overturn the call from helmet to helmet or roughing the passer. Just my opinion

That would slow the game down even more. The Refs should be trained well enough to determine something like that one the field.

The Replays on the Scoring plays are annoying enough. If they started replaying everything, Id be a little turned off.

12-29-2011, 02:39 AM
To a point yes, but the only time they would review if the press box showed that it actually wasn't a penalty for those type of hits. They makes it so teams arent getting penalized unfairly.

They should change that new rule that was called on Desean Jackson when he caught like a 50 harder and ran out of bounds and threw the ball at the coach and got flagged for it and the play was called back. Penalty should have been counted after the catch since it was called dead after he ran out of bounds. And bring back the TD celebrations. BUT, I have a feeling that Next year, they'll adopt that college rule where showboating on your way to a TD is a penalty. Like that LSU kicker when he faked the punt and ran for a TD, which was called back cause he was "showboating".
