View Full Version : I Am Proud of the Steelers Season

As a lifer, I have seen the good and bad of the Steelers.

Considering 3 key defensive players were hurt, the starting RB, the QB could barely move, they still nearly beat the Broncos (who have a damn good defense).

I am disappointed they didn't win one playoff game (I had them beating the Broncos and losing to the Pats) but I can't say anything bad about this year.

They went 12-4 considering the injuries they have been battling all season, it was a good year.

At least they have an excuse for not winning it all. Green Bay/New Orleans/Baltimore/New England. What will be the excuse of 3 of these 4 teams? It won't be injuries.

There should be no excuse for Losing. Period. Its a team game.

Using injuries is a kind of a cop out... I won't go into details, but a certain Super Bowl winning team had 15 players on IR last year.

Pretty sure there aren't any excuses. They lost a game they should have won.

I wouldnt be proud, you just lost to one of the worst starting QBs in the league.

BS meter approaching critical levels!

I was pulling for the steelers from the start but they really need to invest in some younger players.

I hate Tebow as much as the next guy but really one of the worse QB? Did you watch any of the game today??

OP-The Steelers have always been a great team. They were my favorite team when I was younger, Bradshaw & Harris era with the iron curtain defense. Great great season ends for them but they had a good one no doubt about it!

The Steelers had a gutty season, but they are getting very old. Some major retooling will be needed in the off-season.

You must have no comprehension of professional sports, he had a passer rating of 125.6 AGAINST THE FREAKING STEELERS!!!!!! :flex::)! The Steelers are tough but Tebow played great tonight.

I'm not saying Tebow is good or bad. I'm saying Tebow played very very well today. Hardly one of the worst QBs in football, at least today. But again, with all the injuries on the defense, he had it much easier. The Steelers couldn't get pressure on him the entire game. It was actually sad to see. But again, with 3, actually 4 of the starting 11 out, there's only so much you can do.

And yes, they still should have won, but under the circumstances, on this day, the Broncos were the better team and I salute them.

Yeeaaahhh that's a homer statement. You know Seneca Wallace started this year right? Colt McCoy? Tyler Palko? Blaine Gabbert? Kerry Collins?

C'mon man.

Demaryius Thomas schooled Ike Taylor. That's one of the main reasons they lost. Also, you can give the Broncos a short field the way they did in the 2nd quarter.

Steelers are #@#@#@#@#@#@es.

Nothing better than the day the SQUEELERS get knocked out of the Playoffs.

Whenever your starting franchise QB is around 60%, your chances of winning goes down exponentially, unless you're playing behind a steel curtain defense. Just being realistic.

Great game regardless...a lot closer than I thought...at halftime I thought the Steelers wouldn't have a chance to even get close, let alone overtime.

Count back over the last however many seasons since Bill Cowher took over as coach. Steelers have greatest win percentage in NFL. A lot to be proud of there.

I do not like the Steelers. But I will give them credit. To finish 12-4 with such a banged-up (and getting old) team (with an overrated RB in Mendenhall) is a good effort. This was a nothing game for me, I didn't want either team to win, but credit to them for their toughness and effort.

+1

Every time I hear injury complaints, I'm just like, you know last year's Super Bowl Champs? Yeah!

Interesting points...but what are your thoughts on the Packers chances of winning last year if Rodgers had the same high ankle sprain as Ben?

The beauty of sports is everyone has an opinion and nobody is right or wrong.

I will continue being proud of the way the 2011 Steelers battled to the end and others can sit around as say it's just an excuse. It's why I love sports!

Rodgers is a pocket passer while the Rapist tends to run around. Completely different style of game.

Well, the Texans WON their playoff game with a 3rd sting QB. Sick of hearing injury excuses.

Roethlisberger played like Tyler Palko today. If he's that badly injured, the Steelers should know better than to leave him in. Ever since the SF game, he's been an interception and sack machine.

Steelers D looked old and slow tonight. Oh wait that's what they are. Keep your daughters in the house for the next week or so.

I don't know about old and slow, but they were missing Hampton, Woodley (for 90% of the game), Keisel and Clark. Take away 4 key defenders from any team and see how good the D is.

Voice of reason.

They woulda had a better chance to win with Batch today, IMO. And I'm not even a Steelers fan.

Gotta love Cowboy fan chiming in...you couldn't beat anyone over 500, much less the fact that your QB Tebowed his own team on multiple occasions....note: Texans have as many playoff wins as the Cowboys since the year the Texans began 2002...now that's sad considering theyre "America's Team." I leave you with this.................................................wait for it.....................................................Quincy Carter!

The game shouldn't have gotten to OT TBH. In the 4th quarter, the Broncos were victims of a couple no-call facemasks, fumble by the RB and a drop by what would have been a game-ending pick by Bailey, but they managed to hold the Steelers on the final drive. That said, it played out to be an extremely entertaining football game.

What I don't understand is the new OT rules...I thought the whole purpose is to give both teams a shot at scoring and not let a coin flip play a major factor, but if the first team that touches the ball gets a TD, it's game over? I'm not complaining as I was rooting for Denver, but I do think it's still screwed up.

Taylor is a huge liability and has been for years and Pittsburgh still signs him to a 4 year contract extension. Offensive line has been injury plagued for two years- they have to address these issues in the draft.
