View Full Version : CRAZIEST BLASTER BOX EVER!! 2010 Topps Chrome!

I purchased two blasters of 2010 Topps Chrome from my local Wal-Mart today because they were on sale. Both were totally sealed with Topps marked wrapping. The first box was totally normal but the second was possibly the strangest I have ever seen in 15 years in the hobby. Each pack was sealed but EXTREMELY easy to open.
Every pack had two base Topps Chrome Football cards and two Old Fleer Baseball Cards! The baseball cards were absolutely pristine and most of the packs were doubles. They ranged from 1983 to 1990.
This is completely baffling and I am just wondering if anybody has run into anything remotely like this in the past.
I will post full scans of each pack in the morning.

You were scammed my friend. Not sure what you can do.... I would be interested if others had a situation like this in the past and what they did.

I had that problem once at target, have the receipt and such, you should be fine. I still had all of the chrome cards but it was only base.

I thought the same thing at first but it was absolutely unopened. The outer plastic wrapping, The inner packs (I checked and they tore like usual just like they had been sitting for a long time). They had not been opened and resealed. These bad boys were messed with at the factory or something. Trust me nobody brings 16 PRISTINE 80's and 90's Fleer Baseball cards to Wal-Mart and swaps them in to a box of 2010 Topps Chrome. Three of the packs had refractors in them.

Its weird that there were 80s and 90s baseball lol, seems like if someone were scamming they would have at least replaced the cards they took with bums from the chrome product

The probably have a machine to reseal the packs. They brought the box to their house replaced it used their reseal machine and returned the box to walmart...Ive heard of this happening before. There is almost NO chance of a factory error at Topps to insert Fleer BB cards in the pack...

That crossed my mind as well but it seems odd that one random blaster would have it done. Also why wouldn't they just replace the cards with random other chromes? And that still doesn't explain the PERFECT FACTORY outer wrapping. I would think Topps has a very tight lock on that kind of thing so people can't mess with hobby cases.
I am probably making a lot more out of this than it actually is but it seems fun and it is totally blowing my mind man.

The most likely hit this product when it was new, and why replace with Chrome cards when buying them when brand new can be nearly $1 a card. Can buy 600 old fleer cards for a buck. This happens way too often, and isnt something I would call "fun".

you know how easy it is to reseal packs/boxes? Besides you, there should absolutely not be a refund after purchasing boxes of cards..

There were chrome cards in the packs along with the Fleer's. I meant more that discussion than the fact of someone scamming collectors.

They only took the Good ones. Did you get anything good? I highly doubt it. Probably because the scammer took them out..

Dude think about it how would tools have a bunch of old fleer cards in factory. The packs were searched . There is no chance at all this happened at factory. Get your refund and have a fair chance at a good pull. I hate to see people get screwed unless it is in a porn. Also why else would the packs be so easy to open .

There were a couple who just got busted for doing this, They think they did this to thousands of blasters!

Had that happen on a Contenders blaster, 1 auto per box....
Opened from the top. everything looked fine, original strink wrap too. All the packs were sealed, but easy to open. Last pack only had 3 cards and was missing the auto. What they did was cut the BOTTOM wrap off around 3 sides close to the box and then glue sticked the film back on. You could not notice it unless you looked hard or opened from the bottom. Those things were 30 bucks and since I opened in the parking lot, I walked back in immediatly and got a refund and asked them to check the other stock.

I have talked to people about this, the number one item stolen from the factories (Topps, Panini and such) is the outer shrink wrap.
This is exactly why, stealing the shrink wrap would allow someone to search and properly reseal the box/blaster and then sell as if it were new.
I have been told of instances of hobby boxes ending up this way too

Really just baffled. There was actually a Tebow refractor in one of the packs so I guess the people just didn't realize. Wal-Mart refunded my money no questions asked. I guess I would have to say I was impressed with how good it looked. I always make it a point to investigate any retail products I buy in the store to make sure I don't get burned and this one got by me.

sad thing is the Walmart employee will put it back on the shelf. Mine had about 10 Rated Rookie set (1 auto per box) out that were missing the wrap all together. I guess someone bought all 10, took the auto and returned them and ended up back on the shelves.

Man I guess if someone is gonna try to re wrap boxes and return them it would have to be at a store like this so when they bring them back the checker has no clue because they probably aren't a collector . At least you got your $ back I suppose you didnt buy another blaster huh?
