I was wondering if you guys could tell me how Donruss can call this a Prime Jersey? I mean where does it come from? The inside of a jersey number?? If there was just a hint of red, gold, or black this would be a better hit. It's #24/25. Just wondering, thanks!

That is a very strange peice I agree. I would hage to look at my jerseys at home, but I don't know anywhere on the jersey that has that kind of fabric in white? And I have a few jerseys fake, real, and on field and none seem to be like that.

They call a lot of Patches " Prime."
I think Prime should be multi colored at least.

I am pretty sure that anything that is not a simple jersey swatch is considered prime. By simple jersey swatch, I am referring to a single color jersey with the air holes in it. However, there may be some teams out there whose jerseys do not have those air holes, but jersey pieces from those are still non-prime. lol, not sure if I explained that too clearly...

Yes,
I agree. All "prime" jerseys should be at least dual colored.

Im waiting for the day, grass/dirt stains make swatches prime (probably coming soon).
For a prime swatch, I think it needs multi coloring or stitching.
Personally I wish they'd all start game-dating the jerseys/equipment. If you can certify the jersey is "game-worn" or "event-worn" why not put the date on the card? I know Donruss has done this from time to time. They've also be the ones to normally give you a photo of the jerseys/footballs, etc that the swatch was taken from.

Yeah, I think you're right otmack2o,
I have seen SF jerseys and the numbers did have holes in them. However, the jerseys that I am thinking of were from the 90's and early 2000's. Don't know if they have changed or not, but it is irrelevant in this case because Rice left the Niners during the early 2000's. Therefore, you would think that a Prime jersey number swatch from inside the number would have holes in it. Beats me, thanks for the input!

Look at the jersey that he is wearing in the picture - this is from the inside of one of the number patches....

Yes but there are holes on the jersey look closely. And my jersey at home has holes everywhere including the numbers from what I remeber.

Authentic jerseys should not have any holes in the numbering or lettering. The numbers, letters, etc. on the jersey should be patches that are sewn (or attached in another methord) to the jersey.

It looks like it is from the number. I also think that sometimes they call it prime because of the low serial numbering.

Here's a similar "prime" patch card that I found on eBay. Obviously it is a different team, but it is the same plain white color. Looking at the Alge photo, I don't see where else it could have come from other than from the jersey #.

I guess you are right it is from the number. The Steve Young jersey I do is not the official one, but it does have holes everywhere, I guess that is how I picked it up for $10 like 10 years ago.

I guess so. However, I believe that some college jersey pieces from inside the number have holes in them. I have seen JaMarcus Russell and Jordan Palmer swatches out of LCM that had holes in them taken from inside the number. Just out of curiosity, how do you know that your Young Jsy is not official? Is it from a unofficially licensed product or is it a doctored card or something like that?

I had a Javon Walker 2007 LCM Fabric of the Game Patch /25 JUST like yours...it was solid white...and the Broncos have solid white numbers....so ya your Rice should definately be from the #

I think his Steve Young jersey is an actual replica jersey not a card :)

its from the jersey lettering , they have that silky type material , its really almost the same as the plain white jersey swatches , but is actually from the numbers on the players jersey

Oops! My bad. Thought you were talking about a jersey card not an actual full jersey.

yea a real jersey no card
Usually DLP is good about this. Upper Deck seems to be the worst. I opened a box of Ultimate yesterday and the one patch in the box - T.O. all-white. Same thing happened with 2 boxes of Ultimate Baseball a few months ago.

if they want to keep making 1 color patch cards, I say they should get rid of the jersey cards and put these in the place....id be happier with a 1 clr patch then a stinkin jersey! ;)
