It's all market hype driven pricing.
Once it seems he is not coming up soon,most will walk away and the price will start to drop

This should be common sense by now guys...it happens EVERY year with most of the hotter players. Show me those 25.00 Zach lee autos that can be had for 10.00. he was pitching his ass off in 2011....just didn't matter to the fair weather collector.

You can also look at Harper and his stock value decreasing as 2011 progressed. 400.00 autos going for 250.00....that is a MASSIVE drop over-all. Rumors of him being on the 25 man after ST are creating a hike...if he fails to make the 25-man there will be another major hit which may see growth as he does come up,but nothing near what it could have been

I don't really think anyone thinks profar is coming up this year. People just like to get the jump on the next big thing. From my experience there are two substantial spikes in prospect auto's. The first comes when he is playing lights out in the minors (no matter how far he is from the majors) and the second is when he is really close, or when he has been called up. If profar struggles, his cards will drop because people will move on to the next guy who has chrome auto's and is lighting it up.

Also as for hellickson, that has to do with him not having a true 1st bowman auto. Guys like him and jennings, if they were to have had a 1st chrome auto, the prices would be much higher on those cards.

Just my 2 cents. Well I'm Canadian so it's my 1.5 cents with exchange.

I don't ever remember Profar base chrome autos selling for $15. Maybe right after release of 2011 Bowman when he was still an unknown, but ever since June when the MILB season started his base autos raw have stayed right around $30, and now they are up close to $50.

Hype is an amazing thing, he is in the top 5-10 of most MLB prospect lists and now is probably a pretty good time to be selling. I sold a Ref Auto BGS 9.5 that I paid $30 for and $10 to grade, and got $110 for it. Hype is an amazing thing! :D

nope, i think you're fine. so long as he plays well he'll be on that top prospect list, keeping his auto prices up.

You should be fine, plus the MiLB season doesn' t get going till May-June anyway does it? So you have that on your side as well.

I anticipate his prices staying about where they are right now at least into the end of MLB ST. IMO . . . :D

It's like Bundy, I am unloading my chrome while I can due to the fact they are going to let him play in ST. I do not think he will do bad, but a 5.0+ERA will scare people and I do not expect him to be working over veterans right off the bat and it MAY unnerve him.

Who knows, I speculate based on trends and stats and with the odds against him being a superstar in any ST game,time for me to sell. If he beats the odds, more power to him and those buying, but then its 2-3 years in the minors,cards cooling off and...well...Im still good IMO :)

Most base are ~$50+/-$5 with normal variance having a few end near $40 and $60.

You also can't compare prices of SP prospects to a projected elite SS.

Profar will be good, but he won't be a huge power guy. Think Jose Reyes. Nevertheless, if I'm getting $50 for a base auto of a guy who hasn't played above A ball yet, I'm selling every day of the week. Too much can go wrong when they're that far away.
