With all this talk about scanners.
What are some of the ones that take clear scans or cards?
Maybe some examples? Thanks alot everyone!

I'm using a G3110 HP. Haven't touched the factory settings, or used any other program to enhance the scan.

These Epson scans were taken on LOW quality settings, and still the quality is very high, IMO.
New Epson Perfection v300 LED technology vs older HP C3180 all-in-one

On the non-refractor cards, the image clarity is much better, such as on base chrome autos:

I think the old scanner looks better on some of the darker cards, but overall the new scanner (Epson) is the winner IMO.
Compare new technology to old, more overexposed:
OLDER HP C3180:

NEW EPSON:

I don't think you can beat the quality of this Epson; at least not for the money.

CCD scanner is the only way to go if you are scanning refractors or slabbed cards.

Scanner threads always become "show off" threads which is great! I love seeing slabbed chrome colors...scanned! lol

These are all full size scanners right? I have a really old Lexmark x75 all in one, but I don't have the space for it and it cannot scan graded/slabbed cards for the life of it. I was looking at the wand scanners so if anyone has examples or info on those that would be great, also the ones listed here how much space do they take up? I hate using my phone or my multi camera/video recorder for pictures.

Great thread. I'm really hoping someone can help me out because I'm just about ready to chuck my Canon MG5220 printer/scanner/POShite out the damn window.
I've been trying to fix the settings for a while with no luck.
Here is what a typical graded card scan looks like from my equipment:

Anyone have any tips vis a vis settings that I can do to make this look better? I think it might have something to do with the fact that a lot of light gets in under the lid due to the thickness of the slab but I'm not sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Get a Canon flatbed scanner. It will recognize multiple items on the same scanning bed. Its great and I think I paid $90 for it.

Sorry. Not sure if this was in response to my post or just a general statement, but are you saying that is the problem with mine coming out poorly? That my scanner doesn't recognize multiple items? Because if so, I think I saw a setting for that somewhere on the menu.

Just scanned a refractor and a base card slabbed. Paid less than $50 on Ebay for the G3110 HP Scanjet
