So on a whim I was looking & calling folks on craigslist today & found a seller who has about 100k in cards 65% from baseball, and also basketball, football & hockey also. I don't know much about the other sports cards other than baseball.

He's asking 200 OBO so I offered 100 bucks because he said he didn't have an idea of what was in the boxes. He said he would think on it because he's moving & really doesn't want to load & unload them.

What do you guys think? Pick them up of forget about it.

Need opinions on the other sports as well (who would be good in those years or products to look for & such) Any help is appreciated.

I guess $200 isn't much of a gamble for that many cards. If he truly doesn't know what's in the boxes, I'd say it's worth the shot. If he knows that there are 100,000 1988 Donruss cards, then at least you have some chimney fuel.

$100 bucks for 100K cards sounds like a hell of a deal to me for a chance at some decent rookies and inserts. Possibly too good to be true. He probably pulled anything decent already.

Tell him to snap a couple pics of the lots

Yep, I've done a few of these lately, no purchase without at least a snapshot, if he wants to sell it he can take a quick pic.

Even at 200 its probably not all that bad, but 100 would be better. Figure for this price even if they're commons you'll spend weeks going through them - and this alone will last longer than any box you buy for 100 bucks.

Will take up a fair amount of space (as if these are in 5000 ct boxes thats 20 boxes).

But I love finds like this!

Sounds like a good idea. I see lots of potential for profit here if I can get it at a great deal.

He said they were all mixed together so it's hard to say but the pics show some ok stuff (craigslist pics) I still would inspect some of the boxes prior to buying.

The reason I offered him 100 bucks is because he didn't want to split up the cards by sport & I don't know much about sports cards from the other sports. The other thing is the sorting.

Yeah I know. I think I would player lot them out if I can find the good rookies in there. He even said there are still inserts & such so that's what peaked my interest.

I also know some of the other sports have good things in them too, but not keen on exactly who.

Even if you sell every card for $.01 you'll still make 1000% back

Go for it

Anyone know who to look for in the other sports?

Definitely get some pictures. I have seen many Craigslist ads boasting 100K cards only to find out it's closer to 35 - 40K. If it truly is that many cards, I'd pull the trigger. Regardless of what's in there you will at least double your money with some effort.
