My brother and I are looking to break a box of something hockey. Low end, nothing pricey like the cup.

I'm not exactly sure what to look at brand wise. Would like to keep it under $75 per box if possible. Would also like the product to be no older than 09-10 (maybe 08-09)

This is just a PC break so looking for something fun and would also like the chance to hit something nice.

Looking into O Pee Chee and Pinnacle at the moment. Any recommendations?

If you are looking for a good cheap break, I would go with 06/07 or 07/08 Sweet Shot Hockey. Guaranteed autos plus rookie jerseys. Nice puck and stick autos too. Only issue would be getting a redemption. But that's price for earlier sets.

Another recommendation is 10/11 UD Ultimate Collection. This was an awesome set for a great price. You are looking at around $90 a box though. One rookie auto, one jersey hit and this was a great rookie crop. Little more than $75 but you will be happy.
Enjoy!

Thanks! Looks like a cool set, looking for something with a little more volume perhaps?

I've had good luck with 05/06 Rookie Update... You can still find plenty of product out there... And it was a pretty good rookie class... There is a ton of base that comes with a box too... if that's what you are looking for

Any UD Series 1 or 2, based on the year you choose you have a chance to hit one of that years prime "Young Guns" Do your research and or I'm sure people on these boards have a better memory than me, can make the year suggestion along with which "YG's" are in that specific release! Good Luck :)!

2 boxes of 11-12 Score would be fun cheap break for that amount - lots of inserts, 1 SP'd rookie in each box and a shot at an auto. Good luck in whatever you decide

thanks for the advice.
The two I'm leaning towards are 10/11 Panini Pinnacle

and 11/12 UD Series 1

won't be breaking for probably another 3 weeks so series 2 might be a good buy.

Opinions on those 3?

quick price out in Canada

10/11 Pinnacle $45/box
Score $35/box
UD series 1 $70/box

looking to probably buy 2 boxes of one of the above. Best Value?

11-12 UD Series 1 is a nice choice, at $70.00 you hit the right YG's and you have payed for the box :)! Plus if you are a set builder there is no better photography than this release year in and year out! Good Luck

looks like the 6 young guns per box provide great value and I've always liked the Photography in their product.

should I get 2 boxes of series 1 or wait for series 2 on Tuesday :)

Based on how stacked the YG's were in Series 1, it looks like Series 2 will be a little weak, however as they do every year Series 2 will have the Rookie jersey's which has all the Rookies included, give both a shot, at $70.00 how can you go wrong. :)!

Just checked the Series 2 checklist and some interesting stuff! They will have the Victory/MVP Rookie cards (all big name rookies included) some ice YG Canvas with Landeskog, Kassian, Miele &Leblanc, Acetate cards #100 Hodgson, Craig Smith, Landeskog, Read, Scheifele, RNH and some incredible 'One on One' Dual Signature cards! Check out the Checklist on UD website, I would try a box of Series 2 also!

can someone tell me the difference between a hobby box and a fat pack box?

I can get a 18 pack 32 card fat pack box for $95 and I was wondering if I should just get one of those instead of spending $150 to get 2 hobby boxes.

Hobby box guarantees more hits. Fat packs can be good but can be bad. I suggest hobby.

Series 2 is going to be loaded up with the Victory Update rookies, OPC Update rookies, and MVP update rookies. There will be three of each of the big names to chase, plus the rookie jersey cards.

Should be a good one. I'm in for two cases.
