Just read that he's visiting the dolphins today, I'd rather have him at QB than Flynn .. What you guys think?

Unless Philbin thinks the back up he has been coaching for 3 years is garbage... I don't think so. A 7th round QB doesn't stay on a team unless he performs really well.

Being a Niner's fan, I have always liked Alex, but he is not the answer as a starting QB. I don't know if he will still end with the Niner's or another team, but seeing him throw at the receivers feet or 3 feet above the receiver was too much to watch. He rarely threw the receivers open or put the ball in position for the receiver to get more YAC. He had flashes but was terribly inconsistent. I was actually hoping the Niner's would look at Flynn.

The NFC Championship was a prime example. 1-13 on 3rd downs in the biggest game of his life.

you think kapernick is the answer? if manning doesnt sign with you guys and smith leaves, that could hurt

I can't see kaepernick being the answer. Seeing the offense he ran in college, idk if he's up to the challenge yet.

Idk if Kaepernick is the answer yet, but the way Harbaugh works with QB's it wouldn't surprise me if he did well if it came down to him. Tolzein is also on the roster and he was impressive. Another option may be Josh Johnson who is available and Harbaugh coached in SDSU. Hopefully Manning will decide soon and we will know.

Why would you rather have a QB that is only average when Flynn is an unknown that could have a decent upside? How much worse can you get than Alex Smith? I was a GM that didn't have a QB and lost out on Manning, Luck, and RG3 I would sign Flynn, draft Tannehill, and sign some like Jason Campbell or Garrad. Develop Tannehill for a year and see what you have in Flynn with the insurance of a Alex Smith type vet.

If he leaves SF and SF does not sign Manning....they are screwed....

I am one of the (few?) people who like Matt Moore and what he did last season. Maybe bringing in Smith will even improve Moore as he will have to fight for the starting job and work harder. I do like their chances with either guys so we will see.

Moore was better than 10-15 other QBs probably.....

Middle of the pack QB
