BGS autograph grades...

Anyone ever got a phantom 9 autograph grade from BGS? Sent in a Jordan/Lebron dual and it ended up getting a 9.5/9, and the autos looked pristine to me. :confused: I'll scan it when it's returned. Also, opinions on how much this hurts the value of the 9.5? Very irritated...

There's the card. Is it because the pen got a bit light at the end of LBJ's auto? No bubbling or scratches

Looks like the same thing in LBJ's signature here, where the auto was a 10.

Maybe it's because the pen went over where it says "Lebron James" on the card....thanks for the insight.

I'm just hoping it doesn't hurt the value too bad...doubt it will when people actually see it. Still frustrating.

it is simply the streaking in the last part of the Lebron auto (big loop). Any given day, that gets a 10.

how about maybe they were too generous (or bribed j/k) on that 10 auto example. But then again, like someone said, maybe the other one went over the alotted space but didnt cover the printed lebron james name unlike the op.

It's the streaking. Autos generally only get a 9 (assuming they're clean) if they go off the card/sticker. They aren't 100% consistent, but that's the typical standard.

Well I'm glad the card got a 9.5, but the 9 for auto is a shame. You'd think it would have to be for the streaking because it's complete BS if it's for 'being too big' - it's not a sticker!!

Thanks everyone for the input. Yeah...very frustrating that the other had the same amount of streaking and got a 10. :mad:

Maybe it's because 5 of the 6 cards I've ever submitted have been 9.5s and they felt the need to ding me somewhere.

So your one (top) is a 9 for auto and the bottom one is a 10? That's a joke. They look identical. Further proof that Beckett Grading is a sham!
