His value to the team is overrated. Difference maker between championship and playoff team? Remains to be seen.

Personally don't think anything about rose is overrated, especially his value to team. I think part of the reason we've been able to win without him is because of his leadership and not just about what he does on the court, and his great attitude about winning and working hard has rubbed off on his teammates.

Must be the same deal with Wade in Miami then too.

I said it last year and I'll say it again, obviously Rose is a great player but he is not the main reason the Bulls do what they do. It is all about the defense and how each player executes Thibs scheme. Everything else comes from that. Tom T is the MVP of that team.

I bet derrick rose is sitting on the bench like wtf, they should be losing without me.

That's true but it doesn't take away from the player Rose is.

maybe its because this year the bulls are playing better all around. Rose carried them last year. remember the lapses when boozer was a nobody?

are they only playing 1 half tonight. I thought they usually play 2 halfs:)!

i dont think youre giving enough credit to the bulls. no coach can teach his team how to hustle and play with heart and focus. while the bulls on large part win b/c of their defense, it is them who execute it and put their effort into it.
on the flip side, the bulls have one of the most underrated offenses in the nba - i think 2nd or 3rd in terms of efficiency and top 3 in scoring in the east. and we all know coach thibs doesnt coach offense - that was something the players had to develop over the course of last year and this year.

Coaching is so overrated, look at how Lebron made Mike Brown a superstar coach, yet with 3 all stars now he can never duplicate that.

10-4 (.714 winning percentage) without Rose.
28-6 (.823 winning percentage) with Rose.
I'd say they are better with the MVP.
Now can they still beat teams without him? Of course. They are one of the best teams in the NBA with one of the best defenses, benches, and coaches.
Yes, you could argue that the Bulls defense or even Thibs are more important to their success than Rose, but Rose is very important too.

I disagree. Joakim Noah said it himself last week "A 1 hour practice with Thibs is like a 3 hour practice with Vinny Del Negro."
Just look at the improvements the Bulls have made since Thibs has taken over. He's a 100-30 as Bulls head coach during regular season games. The Bulls under Vinny were 82-82 in two seasons.

The Bulls are winning because of their depth. Sure having D Rose with 25 a game on the floor is helping, but without him on the floor, the team is stepping up to fill the void.
Lucas is coming out of no where and scoring 15 pts a game
Boozer is stepping up and scoring 20+ and grabbing boards
KK is scoring the points when he needs to
Everyone is stepping up and coming off the bench to fill the void. Even while Deng isn't playing 100% and isn't scoring as many as he should, the team steps up and fills the void.
Thibs is a defensive genius and should be coach of the year again this year if they make it far in the Playoffs.

Chicago Bulls is one of the top team in the NBA. Surely they have won games and will continue to win games without their MVP D-Rose whether it be with their defense, team chemistry or great coaching. Be that as it may, one can make a strong case that the Bulls cannot win the NBA Final or even the Eastern Conference Final without their superstar D-Rose. History have shown you cannot win championship without your superstar player. D-Rose is that good. He makes his team better when he plays. The point is Chicago has a much better chance to beat Miami in a 7-game series with D-Rose playing. I don't really see how someone can say his value to the team is overrated.

Chicago has no chance of beating Miami in the playoff's let's be realist's maybe for the fans they hope they can beat Miami but reality is a different story , just wait and see already you viewed the preview last year and Lebron owned D Rose in the playoff's .
Miami won't make the same mistakes as last year when they where finding Chemistry , now the Bulls fan's will fight till blue in the face but Miami is the Team in that conference period .

Obviously Miami will be the favorite against Chicago when they'll meet in the playoff. But let's remain calm here and not get ahead of ourselves. History taught us a lesson with last year Finals...Need I said more?

That just means the coach isn't ALWAYS the reason for wins but the Bulls have definitely benefited greatly from having Tom Thibodeau as their head coach.
In two years under Vinny Del Negro, the Bulls were 2-21 when scoring 90 or fewer points. Under Tom Thibodeau they're 22-15 in those games. That can't be a simple coincidence.

Exactly. Unless Rose grows before they possibly meet in the playoffs,it's deja vu all over again. Rose cannot score when Lebron is on him, that will not change from last year no matter what the Bulls try to do

All fans say that. It's true though. Without the fans there would be no franchise. The fans buy the tickets, buy the food, buy the merchandise, and without that the NBA would be like the NBDL - No fans.

Not entirely true. Rose was gassed at the end of the Playoffs last year because the Bulls relied on him to do everything last season, especially in the Playoffs. This years team is more well rounded and they do not rely on Derrick as much, just look at tonight's game for an example of that. Rose has been sitting alot more when injured this season, instead of playing through the injuries like he did last season (playing with 2 ulcers...wow). So hopefully Rose will be at full strength come Playoff time and it will be a different story. We'll see.

lol how is 10-4 a big enough game sample to draw a conclusion like that? Let's see how they'd do without Rose down by 10 in the 4th quarter to a team like Miami, or needing a 2 with 5 seconds to tie it up. You'd be a fool to think Rose wouldn't make or break the team in those situations.
On a sidenote though, the Bulls just play great team ball, and everyone knows their roles and works hard every night. One of the reasons why you just can't hate on them, every guy on there has tremendous heart. Noah is like my favorite player just because of his work ethic and intensity. He even acknowledges in interviews that he doesn't have tremendous talent, but he easily makes up for it with the 110 percent he gives every night.

Not that i disagree with your premise, but, i think you took this quote out of context. I believe he was referring to the fact that the practices under Thibs are a lot more defensive/hussle/conditioning oriented as compared to practices under Vinny Of The Black....i mean Del Negro.
